This funny thing happens to me after a few days in france. The monologue in my brain is still in English, but it has a French accent. Do other non-native french speakers have this experience? I'm so curious about why it happens!

Is there a word to describe the very specific feeling of realizing that I didn’t *actually* cancel my Audible subscription 18 months ago when I thought I did?

Just had the pleasure of applying for a car loan and trying several times to get the lovely person on the phone to understand that I am saying that my employer is HUGGING FACE. 🤦

Has watching the #australianopen on @espn.com been awful for anyone else? It keeps changing midpoint to a screen that says “your match will start soon” while mid match 🤪

It really is such masculine energy to blame things on a woman who no longer works at the company www.nytimes.com/2025/01/16/u...
Mr. Zuckerberg was amenable. He signaled to Mr. Miller and his colleagues, including other senior Trump advisers, that he would do nothing to obstruct the Trump agenda, according to three people with knowledge of the meeting, who asked for anonymity to discuss a private conversation. Mr. Zuckerberg said he would instead focus solely on building tech products.

Mr. Zuckerberg blamed his former chief operating officer, Sheryl Sandberg, for Facebook’s culture, according to one of the people with knowledge of the meeting. He said new guidelines and a series of layoffs amounted to a reset and that more changes were coming.

Visibility is powerful. And, excitingly enough, it's something that we can cultivate in our workplaces. Thanks to all my beautifully visible babes out there!

Emily Witko @witko.bsky.social · 05/12/2024
- Advocate for inclusivity. Push for policies and practices that support different identities, and speak up when you see something that's not inclusive. - Support your friends and colleagues AND be willing to learn and grow alongside them.
100
Emily Witko @witko.bsky.social · 05/12/2024
So, what can we do to promote visibility at work? - Be your authentic self. Use your preferred pronouns, and don't be afraid to correct others when they use the wrong ones. - Share your story. Talk about your experiences and your identity, and be willing to listen to others.
100
Emily Witko @witko.bsky.social · 05/12/2024
And we're more likely to feel a sense of belonging and connection to our workplace.

Emily Witko @witko.bsky.social · 05/12/2024
Visibility is not just about being seen; it's about being heard. It's about being recognized and respected. When we're visible, we're more likely to be included in important conversations and decisions. We're more likely to be considered for new opportunities.
110
Emily Witko @witko.bsky.social · 05/12/2024
Being visible at work creates a ripple effect. We help to break down the barriers that prevent people from being their authentic selves. We create a safer and more inclusive space for everyone.
110
Emily Witko @witko.bsky.social · 05/12/2024
Fast forward to today, and Hugging Face is a very different place. We have more diverse representation, and we've made significant strides in creating an even more inclusive and welcoming environment. It's a beautiful thing to see, and it's a reminder of the power of visibility.
110
Emily Witko @witko.bsky.social · 05/12/2024
It wasn't always easy, and there were definitely moments of discomfort and uncertainty, but I knew that being visible was crucial, not just for my own well-being, but for the well-being of others like me.
100
Emily Witko @witko.bsky.social · 05/12/2024
It was a lonely experience, but I was determined to be my authentic self. I wanted to be seen. I wanted to be recognized as a nonbinary person, and I wanted to use the pronouns that felt right for me.
100
Emily Witko @witko.bsky.social · 05/12/2024
As I reflect more on my partner's recent swearing-in at the Supreme Court, I'm reminded of the importance of visibility in the workplace. When I first started at @hf.co almost three years ago, I was the only nonbinary person and the only person to use they/them pronouns.

The past couple of days have been a powerful reminder about the importance of visibility in all its forms. Thank you to everyone who fights this fight every day. I see you, and I love you.

Despite the mixed emotions, yesterday will remain an extremely powerful day in my memory. A group of extremely talented lawyers and wonderful people, who also happen to be trans, stood in front of an unfriendly court to declare that they exist and that their existence is valid.
130
Emily Witko @witko.bsky.social · 04/12/2024
BUT I am so grateful to the members of the transgender community (including my very amazing partner!) and @chasestrangio.bsky.social, the first openly transgender lawyer to argue a case before the Supreme Court, for their strength and their visibility.
110
Emily Witko @witko.bsky.social · 04/12/2024
At the same time, it was strange to be sitting in a courtroom where, just 24 hours later, the same justices would hear a case involving a Tennessee law that restricts medical care for transgender youth. The oral arguments for that case have since concluded, and I am not optimistic about the outcome,

He qualified for admission to the Supreme Court Bar after years of good work as a lawyer in both New York and California. It was an immense honor, and I was proud to be there to support him and his Transgender Bar Association colleagues, who were admitted to the court on the same day.
