Back in 2024, Fever had about the same “free” tv broadcasts as Aces. After having all 15 top rated games, the broadcasters decided to show their games more. sportsnaut.com/wnba/wnba-tv...

Biggest draw on the road then other players when they are on the road.

withmorewit.bsky.social @withmorewit.bsky.social · 11h
I think CC is still the biggest draw, but I see her as more of a gateway drug that allows people to see other awesome players. I think Kelsey and Aaliyah are getting their own fanbases when more people see them play.

Not always outnumber, but large enough to compete and sometimes outcompete the home teams fans.If you don’t believe me, just rewatch.Fever home attendance does not contribute revenue to other teams the way increasing road attendance does.I’m not trying to argue fever home attendance is the highest.

The road attendance numbers speak for themselves, so argue with facts I suppose all you want, but what about your own eyes are ears? You ever watch fever road games? You hear the crowd? Most fever road games have loud cheers for the Fever. Go back and listen.

They were the most viewed team on a per game basis and have been every year since 2024. I don’t understand the point being made?

withmorewit.bsky.social @withmorewit.bsky.social · 13h
I’m focusing on fever road games because the argument is the fever help the other wnba teams generate money more than any other team through increased road ticket sales and higher tv ratings since 2024. The Fever get consistently high home attendance themselves, but thats for them.

Raising prices does that, although the home attendance increased after your data here. Still my argument is that the Fever are the biggest draw for the wnba on the road and on tv. You have not posted any evidence against that. athlonsports.com/wnba/indiana...

Heres 2026, 2025 is iffy because the biggest factor, Clark, only played 13 games that year

Because of the quality of their play and because Gabby Williams is a star. People want to see good basketball, good teams, and stars. They also want to see their favorite teams play. Golden state sells out home games, Fever sell out road games.

withmorewit.bsky.social @withmorewit.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
Nobody thinks of cowboys as “americas team” that is outdated Sure, there are more factors for viewers/attendance, but you are acting like the wnba started in 2024. Golden state getting a new team generated excitement locally, sparking the sellouts, and will get more national broadcasting…

Players and quality of team. Sports broadcasters tends to market star players.

You seem to believe broadcasting games is the only factor that contributes to viewership or attendance?

withmorewit.bsky.social @withmorewit.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
I really think you are confusing cumulative total viewers for year with average viewers per broadcast. Otherwise I don’t think your argument tracks

This is list of nationally broadcast wnba games by team. Why do you suppose ratings for fever were like 30% higher than aces in 2024, after the wnba broadcast them nationally so much the year before?
100
withmorewit.bsky.social @withmorewit.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
What investment has occurred for fever that has not previously occurred for other teams. Aja gets marketed for her nationally televised games, has commercials and gets all the awards (deservedly). Sabrina and Stewie have awards, were champs in 2024, have the largest media market, get commercials…

We’ve established that there are more than just Fever games shown nationally. When the nationallly broadcast games do not involve d the Fever, the ratings are less on average for that broadcaster and have been for 3 years now.

CC has been a catalyst for increased growth, not the only factor. The league was growing slowly before her appearance. However she has been the primary reason for accelerated growth, as the tv ratings, fever gane attendance since 2024, and fever road games being moved to larger arenas can attest.
200
withmorewit.bsky.social @withmorewit.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
You are confusing correlation with causation. Fever cause higher ratings then get shown more by business interested in their ratings. Getting higher ratings happened before all their games were nationally televised, starting in 2024.
100
withmorewit.bsky.social @withmorewit.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
There tv ratings jumped in 2024, when CC joined the team and at a much higher proportion than any other team. That continues to be the case, although the differences are not as stark. Tv networks/streamers promote their other wnba games too, and they don’t get the same ratings. True since 2024.

The link indicates the ratings are higher for espn when Fever are involved. There is no indication that it is different for other streamers but it stands to reason, they are on tv more in the first place because they get more views. These tv/streaming services are trying to make money and more views

Since CC, my argument will be mostly about increase in attendance when Fever are in town, higher tv ratings when they are involved, and fact that new media deal involved wnba selling tv/streaming services on broadcasting the Fever. Can provide citations for all if needed, but visiting family now

Fair request: list of franchises as old or older than Fever and their metro area population.

Before Caitlin Clark, on a per capita basis, no city has done more to support the wnba than Indianapolis metro area. Since CC, no team has helped the wnba grow, pay players better, and add franchises more than the Fever. #WNBA

“Vibes” from their tv screen. They complain about CC supposed culture war fans despite her repeated rejections of their messages and attitudes, while not blaming Azi for her fans’ repeated excesses. The Fever fans have supported the wnba for 26 years much longer than any metro area their size.

I was watching another game, but the nfl just had a game between Aaron Rogers and Deshaun Watson. “Woke” is coming for the Fever? I’m not dismissing the idea there are racist Fever fans, but there there were no verified instances of racist actions at Gainbridge this year. People complain about…

I don’t think any ref saw the CC hit, the ball was going the other way. You think Aja didn’t complain when the game stopped? I can’t read lips but she looked frustrated on the replay, showing her elbow to refs and yelling. Players, especially stars and coaches, work the refs.
110
withmorewit.bsky.social @withmorewit.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
She definitely needs to tone down the techs. But Aja got cut on the elbow and complained to refs earlier in game. CC got hit and had a bloody mouth and complained to the refs. She’s doing the same thing in the press conference other competitive ppl do when they think a foul call was missed.
