Probably unpopular opinion: as a brand new player to DnD (as of six months ago) 5e and 5.5 e seem way more fun and engaging than previous editions. I know I would have hated 3e and 4e.

... Ironically I am having the most fun running in circles gathering elemental crystals and shards for the gathering and crafting achievements. I spent 4 hrs last night just running in circles around Black Shroud just gathering the same 4 nodes for the Gathering V achievement. It's that or MSQ... 😂

I will not spoil anything. But the catalyst for the post patch storylines for HW was so blatant from the onset of the arc at like level 53. Just as the entire arc of HW MSQ was obvious the moment you set foot into Ishgard. The writing is indeed something this game does. ARR exists. Somehow.

Of course I also will get burned at the stake for saying that I find the entire story of FF14 to be so incredibly hamfisted in general that a little more ham does not make a difference. Someone writer was very proud of their story and Yoshi P put it riiiight on the fridge for all to see.
