if you're wondering what the hell a "kautakat" is

okay so the kautakats as a species are actually a "subspecies" of the "a-kats" family (consisting of 4 members. each member only having one specimen alive)

the ta-kats are 4 alien "cats" created by some unknown space organization for space travel, and they have a variety of skills and strengths.

for one, each of them have an innate "drive" to do some sort of space ship job. for example, kauta, whos effectively the "handyman runt" of the crew, has the innate drive and knowledge to build and maintain rockets out of effectively any material. think of how beavers just HAVE to build a dam when they hear rushing water.

the others i havent really designed so i dont know what their innate skills would be besides tamakat (the crew leader) having heavy leadership skills baked into her core

each one of the "a-kats" also biologically only contains a couple of things inside them. they are each filled with their own unique element (kauta being battery acid) that powers them. and the only other organ inside them is their brain. so effectively, they are slime in skinsuits! you can squish and squeeze them as much as you'd want.

the last strength they have is the ability to temporarily clone themselves. mainly for multitasking (running a ship is hard work!). although, kauta is very special, in the fact that he is a little Broken in the head. whilst all the other a-kat clones have effectively no personal autonomy (effectively, they are an extension of their original) and quietly pass away after awhile, kauta's clones are permanent! and independent! and also mutated! so canonically in the universe he is in there is just a bunch of different, mutated kautakats all around the universe (hense the 500 versions of him)
