Just watched the President's "Liberation Day" speech. Based on this, I can confirm many Americans will be liberated from: - Being able to afford groceries - Much of their retirement savings - Any hope of buying a home As for lower prices? Just the opposite.

Maybe everyone can see it now, but the world's richest people have tanked it all to restock assets and get liquid after years of illegally playing with funny money. They used "the wokeness" as a cudgel and it worked. The next Disney princess WILL be white, as we all eat beans under the highway.

This is one hundred percent a case of a man completely obsessed with the idea of tariffs being told "no, bad" by every single smart person around him, and the flip to "it's gonna cause some pain" rhetoric was when they finally got through to him. But his stupid stubborn ego won't let him back down.

I mean, sounds like it was sort of gonna head there eventually, the older a community gets the more it tends towards that, but the problems with CS definitely expedited it

If it’s laser I wouldn’t recommend that tbh, the risk is fairly high and you can’t do it to yourself really nor should you trust anyone without some experience to handle a laser of that power

Why would the communities not persist through discord and other external platforms? It may no longer be CSGO but I figure it’s not as though other bhop projects don’t exist either, it really sucks it happened this way but I’m curious why it would be such an unrecoverable blow

Oh my fucking god I hate body hair so much, my arms have like a fair bit but it’s all very flat and straight, my upper body has very little but of both flat and curly varieties, and my legs are covered and it’s super curly, why is it like this!!!!!

Interesting, not sure I’d say it’s surprising but it is interesting to hear that

True, though I’m not even sure if it’s a testing problem tbf, I see this identical complaint for so many games and I think it’s more a business prioritization problem than that they don’t find them at all.

Definitely, though no company can ever really have that relationship I feel, at the very least it is disinclined by bureaucracy and that’s just a consequence of large scale organized business that I’m not sure can be fixed realistically, valve especially is still very weird about maintenance though

I do think there is some business strategy reason for it that probably does make sense if we had access to that info, but it certainly never feels good does it

Valve also did create source, so even if cs:s was a mod initially, the foundations it was built on and making it not suck under hidden path was mostly if not all valve, I still think you undermine their influence in the game being as good as it was even if they suck at maintenance.

Yea totally, though as in another comment tf2 was such a case, and there’s titanfall 2 which had more understandable circumstances but is still a case in corporate abandonment.

Wish Dragon @wish-dragon.bsky.social · 19/03/2025
Yea that’s fair, valve does have a weird culture around patching things and maintenance, granted these are games like tf2 and cs we talk about when we say that, most games don’t get *any* maintenance past the first couple years

Wish Dragon @wish-dragon.bsky.social · 19/03/2025
10 people ever or 10 people right now? Cause while it may not have many maintaining it for whatever reasons that may be, by no stretch of the imagination have that few employees been involved in its development.

Says it was developed by valve and hidden path, and I’m talking about those people because you were claiming they didn’t get out of it what they deserved, and while there’s not much on Le, Cliff likely had from the 2 decades of his employment up until his dismissal.

You could easily then say no company has ever achieved anything cause actually it was a combination of the employees and community input and support, but none of these things would exist on the backs of any community alone, most likely weren’t even a majority by the community.

It’s a bit ridiculous to claim that valve has only succeeded because the community “did it all for them” because it kinda stops being the community when they become employees and it stops being community when it’s a copyrighted largely closed source product

Wish Dragon @wish-dragon.bsky.social · 18/03/2025
You also know Cliff worked at valve until 2018? Both devs were employees, who don’t commonly get residuals, and cs:go for example was likely almost none of the original CS mod, whee development and server hosting was largely valve’s investment.

Le was even employed by valve for 6 years following CS’s release
000
Wish Dragon @wish-dragon.bsky.social · 18/03/2025
wiki says “Valve later acquired the game's intellectual property and announced a partnership with Le and Cliffe” so I’m pretty sure they own it fairly and the creators got something for it
