Selfie of a smiling man in a camo cap and cream sweatshirt holding gray binoculars on a gravel trail. Behind him, a large, diverse group of about 30 birders with binoculars and cameras smile, cheer, and wave their arms in the air, surrounded by sunlit grass and trees just starting to turn yellow for fall.

Just finished this incredible book! Over 400 pages of REAL history. #LeadersAreReaders 📖🫶🏾
A hand holds a hardcover copy of “Black AF History: The Un-Whitewashed Story of America” by Michael Harriot. The black-and-gold cover features historical paintings marked with red handwritten annotations such as “mediocre,” “petty,” “thief,” “just rich,” “human traffickers,” and “drug smuggler.” A vintage newspaper clipping reading “Congressman Powell Says: OUR FREEDOM” sticks out from the top of the book.

Humaning.
A four-panel comic. In panel 1, a Northern Cardinal and American Goldfinch perch above a busy crowd in a city, looking down. The cardinal says "It's a nice day to go humaning." The goldfinch says "Just look at them. Majestic." In panel 2, a close-up of the two birds. The cardinal says "Nobody tells you that you'll reach a certain age and suddenly get into humaning. I hit 3 years old, and then bam."The birds are looking out over the crowd scene. In panel 3, the cardinal says "Their calls sound funny to us, but each one has a unique meaning." Below, people are saying various things: "I'm tired." "Where's my phone?" "I'd murder a burrito." In panel 4, the birds look down excitedly at a man walking by. The cardinal says "Wait, is that a guy who got dressed in the dark and put his shirt on inside out and backwards?" And the goldfinch exclaims, "Holy... that's a lifer!"

Swift Night Out was incredible! ~600 people, 1,000+ chimney swifts. Huge thanks to our amazing partners Southern Wisconsin Bird Alliance & Feminist Bird Club of Madison. Swift Week continues nightly thru Friday the 11th 6-8pm, at Cherokee Heights Middle School in Madison, WI! 🌅🐦🫶🏾
A crowd gathered on a grassy field at dusk, sitting in camp chairs and on blankets, facing toward a tall brick chimney tower in the distance, surrounded by trees under a partly cloudy blue sky.A merchandise table with folded black t-shirts staffed by volunteers, with attendees browsing and purchasing items in the foreground, and the crowd seated on the field behind them under a glowing sunset sky.A wide view of attendees scattered across a large athletic field at sunset, seated in chairs and standing in small groups, with a soccer goal and tree line visible in the background.A smiling man wearing a “#birdjoy” baseball cap holds binoculars around his neck, taking a selfie with the crowded event field and attendees in camp chairs visible behind him.

Madison is often described as a liberal city. Liberal is defined as “favoring reform, open to new ideas, and tolerant of the ideas and behavior of others. Not bound by traditional thinking. Broad-minded.” I call BS!!!!!!

Today we gathered for a Healing Hike. Our community is hurting after the death of Corey Ruiz, but community and nature remind us that we don’t have to carry grief alone. Protect your peace. Hold onto your joy. #RIPCoreyRuiz ❤️‍🩹
A diverse group of 14 people stands together on a wooden overlook beside a calm lake during a sunny morning. Many are wearing binoculars around their necks, hiking clothes, and broad smiles, suggesting a community birding or nature outing. Trees line the shoreline in the background beneath a blue sky dotted with fluffy white clouds, creating a peaceful setting. The group stands close together, conveying a sense of connection, support, and shared time outdoors.
