WireWhiz @wirewhiz.com · 20/09/2026@cade-gilbert.com and I started working on this idea over a year and a half ago with the idea of bringing together the hackers and innovators of the VR space together. Undiluted by everything else that's going on with social media right now. We want to see what you're building! 4/4 110
WireWhiz @wirewhiz.com · 20/09/2026I'm personally going to be using the site to document my long running Brane Engine project, as well as soon to come overengineered VRChat world assets. I've used personal blogs, forums, and youtube as my main places to nerd out in depth, but this is what finally feels right. 3/4 110
WireWhiz @wirewhiz.com · 20/09/2026The site is built around the idea of following Projects, making it super easy to share your own projects, find out what others are doing in the space, and share knowledge with them. We're still figuring things out, but it's to a point now where it's time for use to use it. 2/4 110
WireWhiz @wirewhiz.com · 20/09/2026Finally time to announce an idea I've been working on for a while. The vrdev.net. VR projects have been getting harder to find and keep up with over the past couple years, so we made a place that makes that easier. For the builders by the builders. 1/4 2117
WireWhiz @wirewhiz.com · 28/07/2026I want to build my own company at some point, and every decision I’ve made I thought I was getting closer. But like, damn I might not make it. Turns out you need money and time to relax to survive, and I don’t have either. Sprinting without ever taking a moment to relax for 5 years, no reward 041
WireWhiz @wirewhiz.com · 28/07/2026I think I’m done with startups. I’ve gotten to work on really cool fun things, but like, I can’t keep having my job blowing up and leaving me in debt. I’m literally fantasizing about getting a manual labor job. 140
WireWhiz @wirewhiz.com · 24/04/2026It’s definitely not anywhere near ready yet, but a friend and I are working on a public form specifically for sharing VR projects and knowledge. Just nowhere else to get news or share stuff reliably as of late 010
WireWhiz @wirewhiz.com · 06/04/2026I lack ego, completely. The good kind that defines who you are. I’ve systematically broken down all external sources of it, while having no internal ones, and now I’m a malleable blob that can’t hold its shape. 010
WireWhiz @wirewhiz.com · 06/04/2026What do you do when you realized you were only ambitious about creating the perfect tools of ambition, but you weren’t actually “ambitious” because in the end ambition creates an end product, and provides rewards. 110
WireWhiz @wirewhiz.com · 06/04/2026I don’t even really have vices to turn too, I feel like a blank slate that’s just been moulding myself to fulfill what some made up audience wants. I really like making tools, but I have no drive to use them. 110
WireWhiz @wirewhiz.com · 06/04/2026I know I want to do something that gives me results in like 3 months max. Every side project I’ve done in the past has been a multi year ordeal, and that’s why I’m burnt out right now. 110
WireWhiz @wirewhiz.com · 06/04/2026For the first time in my life or at least as far as I can remember, I genuinely have no clue what I want to or should be doing with my free time. 120
Reposted by WireWhizCadeXR @cade-gilbert.com · 19/12/2025Hi Bluesky! been a min Yap: The VR Dictation Keyboard is releasing next month! This app started as one thing, "I hate typing in VR, I wish I could just use speech to text" Yap works by typing into whatever application you have focused on windows, as well as has OSC outputs to VRC if so desired 1186
WireWhiz @wirewhiz.com · 19/11/2025I really want a statically verified/asserted unwrap for when I know what a value is and don’t want to need to do a 3 line pattern match 000
WireWhiz @wirewhiz.com · 19/11/2025Panic is fine, I just think the word “unwrap” isn’t scary enough, OR should be statically verified to never trigger. 100
WireWhiz @wirewhiz.com · 01/11/2025In my case I have both a personal website and a public forum I host for one of my projects, I can highly recommend either, but might not be practical 000
WireWhiz @wirewhiz.com · 08/10/2025I might be cooked, I'm stressing about writing code that I know will will crash... after centuries of uptime. Like what if I get trapped in the computer? 020
WireWhiz @wirewhiz.com · 25/09/2025If you can’t understand why oop code is as complicated as it is, trust that feeling, you might be right. 120
WireWhiz @wirewhiz.com · 25/09/2025I think everyone can agree that being a shifter would be cool as hell. 010
Reposted by WireWhizLeaf~ @leaftilde.bsky.social · 24/09/2025Also he built the trophy holding claw thing for the new Battlebots seasons which is 110% rad. 471997545
WireWhiz @wirewhiz.com · 21/09/2025I had a moment a couple days ago going “what possible method of positivity effecting the world could I reasonably come up with?” And “counter boting twitter with llms trained to lower tensions” popped into my head. And the sad thing is that it’s the only thing I came up with that might actually work 030
WireWhiz @wirewhiz.com · 19/09/2025The sushi place I liked door dashing from removed their by one get one free deal, and I am sad. 000
WireWhiz @wirewhiz.com · 14/09/2025I got tired of social media, so I made my own. Introducing: the Brane Community Forums! For discussing how to use the engine that isn't ready to use yet! Current Content: Me being trolled by my friends, and a fresh engine devlog community.thebrane.org/t/brane-deve...community.thebrane.orgBrane Development LogLast month was very exciting, we got brane script working and confirmed that at least the core runtime itself runs significantly faster then JavaScript and LuaJit, which was my main goal for the entir... 020
WireWhiz @wirewhiz.com · 12/09/2025I’m at the point that I’m making workout gains out of stress, and the stress isn’t going down. I’m far too chronically online for this shit. 010
WireWhiz @wirewhiz.com · 10/09/2025Hopefully we’ll get a least one world on there that’s not AI generated, for a short time at least 000
WireWhiz @wirewhiz.com · 10/09/2025If anyone could make a good tech stack, they *could*. They have not though. They managed to make the single most buggiest application I’ve ever interacted with. 110
WireWhiz @wirewhiz.com · 10/09/2025You know, when I started building Brane engine, the rough idea was to make something technologically advanced enough that it basically killed all closed VR platforms. Mainly targeted at meta. After working with horizons tho, they are not going to win based on tech. 220
WireWhiz @wirewhiz.com · 09/09/2025Imo the glashole effect will be more prevalent and irl friends will be the real flex 110
WireWhiz @wirewhiz.com · 06/09/2025Door dash got canceled because the dasher missed the highway exit, apparently the app just re-orders the meal for free if it doesn't get there. Guessing the airline rules apply of if anything happens out of the ordinary they start giving you free stuff to keep you happy. 010
WireWhiz @wirewhiz.com · 06/09/2025Now they get a tiny bit of slack since they're switching from VR native editing to desktop, however, the desktop editor was released far too early. I was originally trying to bug report everything I found, but I gave up because I had to stop and write a completely fresh bug report every 15 minutes. 000
WireWhiz @wirewhiz.com · 06/09/2025The greater vision and very broad architecture decisions are fine, and I actually like some of them. But almost all of the base-level implementations of stuff is just *wrong*. Complete lack of dog-fooding and basic game engine UX knowledge. It's legitimately the most bug ridden UI I've ever used. 120
WireWhiz @wirewhiz.com · 06/09/2025I've been building for horizons for about 2 months now, and my team has built stuff that the horizons team didn't even think was possible (source: the horizons team reacting to some videos shared with them). And I can confidently say that "Architecture Astronauts" is what they're suffering from. 110
WireWhiz @wirewhiz.com · 06/09/2025I'm glad I re-watched this, cause when I hear the term "architecture astronaut" I was not thinking the same thing he explained, even though I've watched this clip before. I was honestly worried that he was referring to focusing too much on the small implementation details, but he meant the opposite. 100
