lately i've noticed pukeko here hanging around more than than usual. then i disturbed the flighty buggers one morning to discover they've been hammering the tradescantia god bless. the chooks love it as well, hook into for breakfast.

triple sliding doors, recycled jarrah and oregon timber resawn from old beams, double glazed. view from inside onto patio, farmland in background. Paterangi.stacked set of sliders fitted to a new opening where there used to be a sunroom with bifold windows.

thing is, i like imperfect wall finishes which is why the interior walls in my place are solid plaster, with a limewash finish. it was also intended to act as a passive heat sink/release but that hasn't worked really.
square bay window with solid plaster walls limewashed to give colour.
no architraves needed:)

had to stop every 5 km's, tilt the cab, prime the fuel pump. passed a chic in cargo bike cycling steady. then she passed me with a faint smile at one of my priming stops. the hare, the tortoise. tilting the cab is way more dramatic than lifting the hood eh. i think i may have impressed her

like your mate i don't make many, but they seem to come in bunches. the thing i like is that they were a standard set of sizes, so in a villa i might have to make a dozen but only set up my machines once.

yep. even better if you can cook on it, and/or it has a wetback. double glazing into straight aluminium can be problematic- there is an inherent design flaw which can paradoxically increase condensation. the pictures are from a new alu/dble glazing window at my parent's old place

found a wee bit of rot on the job today. usual place, caused by sealant around a fixed window, trapping moisture. never seal around the outside of a fixed wooden window. unless you want to grow mushrooms. here's one i fixed earlier
extensive rot in a wooden window at the intersection of the sill and mullion (vertical bit )rot in a wooden window sill which had spread to the vertical mullion. caused by caulking/sealant around the exterior perimeter of the fixed window, which traps moisture. what moisture you say? it's sealed!. condensation, stupid. it was a single glazed window. a repair to the rotten sill. macrocarpa clears fitted and glued in after the rot was cut outin situ repair to the sill and mullion, macrocarpa timber was spliced and glued into the original timber which was sound and free of rot.

same. learned recently that it's called mixed handedness or cross dominance. this lovely old 1930's bandsaw is a rare left hander, i find it intuitively easy to use as i'm mostly lefthanded when using two hands ( cricket, chopping wood etc) and in this case pushing timber

i imagine uenuku standing here atop pa te rangi, where this surveyors trig marked the raupatu coordinates. the trig station has snce collapsed, it's function supplanted by digital topography. there was a sign on this trig in english and te reo, warning it is an offence to interfere with this marker

with a ruptured pec you can't chop firewood. so i built a log splitter out of shit lying around the yard. gearbox= otis elevator lift winch out of griffins biscuit factory, circa 1930, steel= Crewenna pottery kiln bogie rails, old haybaler parts, motor= 1950's White drum sander ( 3hp)
