I don't think you can blame him for tonight, although getting a few of those kicks would have helped. The good part of his game is he adds a bit of structure so Williams can go wandering which got us a couple of tires.

Wakefield are a great example of new owners turning things around so it's certainly possible. Sadly I suspect things behind the scenes are worse for Salford and I don't see these new owners making the same kind of difference. Do hope I'm wrong though.

I also think that the IMG grading could help Salford here. Relegation could be the end of the club, but if they take this year to focus on finances their score might even go up even if they finish dead last, which is looking more and more inevitable in any scenario. #rugbyleague

I have a soft spot for Salford but this saga just makes everyone look bad. I'm still not sure how the RFL can approve a takeover where the new owners can't afford to pay staff. I think there needs to be a decision soon, which probably means the salary cap stays and players are sold. #rugbyleague

That's the break. Widnes have been solid and were on top for 30 min or so. Having said that they gave Wire plenty of chances most of which ended with mistakes. Hopefully Warrington can kick on in the second half but they haven't been great so far #rugbyleague

Undoubtedly NRL clubs will see this as an opportunity to get the best English players but to a large extent they already can so I'm not sure they need to buy the whole competition just for that.

To be honest I think a lack of composure has been our weakness for years now. It used to be any time we were behind, they seemed to fix that last year but it still comes out in the big games.

The silver lining to this is that it's not for a trophy. You'd hope Warrington adjusted their big game preparation after the challenge cup last year but it clearly didn't work and something needs to change. The best teams lift themselves for these occasions and Wire need to find that and quick.
