i was kind of one of them too, i worked the art mines pretty hard in the last week 6 fully rendered/backgrounded attacks (3 of which were duos) in a little over a week, we'll see if i recover before next artfight rolls around

i spent the first half of the year mostly artdead and i started pretty late in the event (in like the last quarter) but i still managed to pull out 680 points for team mystery in spite of it i definitely didn't save team mystery but i did what i could

decided to try doing something a little different, a somewhat rough experimental sketch with a little more detail than my usual #furryart

one of these days i wanna give resonite a proper try, it looks really cool having a complete editor for everything just included by default, but i just haven't found an excuse to set time aside and commit to figuring it out yet

i can't speak much of what resonite's editor UI is like, but i can't imagine its actually much harder than unity i'd assume its just people being scared of it more than anything, another case of people assume its hard and the assumption itself is what makes it hard, like a self fulfilling prophecy

as a creator the vrchat sdk is fine, it has pain points and i don't like unity but thats just me but as a user, its really not smooth, and it being this way has lead to a lot of people sharing their PWs so someone else can upload for them (which is signifying of a problem, and is kind of yikes imo)

even just the process of registering for a unity personal license, downloading a multi GB engine and figuring out how to import the unitypackage and upload the avatar, even if the avatar is fully premade thats a lot of friction and a large chunk of unity's features are irrelevant for an avatar maker

tbh anybody who says vrc is easy is wrong lol the vrcsdk is fine for what it is, but i really can't call it easy having to find your way around unity just to upload a premade avi, at least resonite doesn't make you register for an entirely separate proprietary engine just to have an upload button

1 week late but my slightly late halloween joke comic is doneish (not as polished as i'd like but i have to call it good enough at this point) honestly not entirely sure she even heard the "don't feel like it" part

a short comic page, where a character gets asked if they're coming along for halloween, and expresses disinterest, which is met by the asking character forcing them into coming along.

a rough transcription is as follows:

Panel 1:
C: "hey are you coming with us for halloween" waving over to S.
S: "nah, don't feel like it tbh, don't have anything to wear anyways" visibly disinterested not even looking away from their phone

Panel 2: C: "you don't have...? (a costume)" looking concerned
Panel 3: C: "oh! i know" lightbulb pops into their head
Panel 4: S: "eh?" looking up, uncertain of what C is planning
Panel 5: C: has an expression of devious scheming
Panel 6: C: "C'mere you~" rushing over to S, who has an expression of visible fear
Panel 7: S is seen wearing a slightly embarrassing pumpkin themed maid outfit, with an expression of being _very_ annoyed about being forced to wear it, C is seen in the corner adoring their 'creation', C's appearance has changed to include bandages that were not there prior

Tbh, if you post something slightly different and somebody unfollows, if that's all it takes for someone to drop you then they probably weren't truly there for you to begin with It's still disheartening to see it happen, but often they weren't much more than a +1 on the follower count to begin with

It be like that sometimes, even with mostly humanoid furries the things that look right are just ever so slightly different than the things that look right on human characters its not a big difference but it's enough to give that little bit of uncanny if you're used to drawing just one or the other
