K-Trail, and every other multi-use urban winter pathways across the city are NOT the National Capital Commission but we are important and essential partners. We could not operate without them. Tell them what you think about urban winter pathways here: www.facebook.com/share/p/17tP...

Just like having very supportive parents, Nakkertok Nordic has helped and mentored K-Trail from the very early days and continues to do so today. From LENDING equipment, helping FIX equipment, to cheering from the sidelines; the club has always been there to support. Thank you

And now a word from our board of directors!

More thank-Us are in order to close out the season. This time our bronze sponsors, who do what they can to contribute and be a part of our community. The Grand Maker House Co. Continuum Fitness and Movement Performance Westboro Community Association Ruppert McCarthy

Snowmobiles are classified as RECREATIONAL vehicles, yet snow grooming pushes them into the realm of an INDUSTRIAL application. Maintaining the trail is hard on equipment. Although, not a sponsor; a big shout out to Motorsportsworld Ottawa for their support. We are just not a regular customer!

Kichi Sibi Winter Trail @wintertrail.bsky.social · 23/03/2026

Time to put away the snow grooming equipment. (But still more social media coming your way before we are truly done.) Stay tuned.

Kichi Sibi Winter Trail @wintertrail.bsky.social · 22/03/2026

Kinda handy having one of your sponsors being a multi-disciplinary performance clinic that offers coaching and therapy to help you move better and feel better. Tips on getting ready for spring. Continuum Fitness and Movement Performance

Have you ever considered just how many people live in walking distance of the trail? There are apartment buildings as far as the eye can see! And some of those buildings are managed by Osgoode Properties Ltd ,a proud supporter of the trail.

Kichi Sibi Winter Trail @wintertrail.bsky.social · 20/03/2026

Grooming done for the day. Consider it a bonus. No snow in tonight’s forecast nor is there anything on Saturday, which means grooming unlikely tomorrow but never say never to this winter. Everything is day by day.

We always say “it takes a village to raise a trail”. Well part of that village is the Westboro Business Improvement Association (BIA) - a proud silver sponsor. Thank You Judy, staff and members. Together we are stronger.

After pulling old ski equipment out of the garage, rediscovering how great the sport is on local urban trails, but now wanting more; you are in luck. Lots of amazing skiing in Gatineau Park and @Nakkertok Nordic. They will have snow for a while yet.

As the winter comes to an end, it is important to do a shout-out of appreciation to Mill St. Brew Pub Ottawa, a long time gold sponsor of the trail. We feel very lucky to have a microbrewery located directly on the trail and it is just one of the many things that make our city wonderful.

Grooming done for the day, if not the season. Lots of users out and was definitely a motivator. Lots more social media coming your way but likely the last grooming report.

Facing the reality that today is potentially the last day of winter conditions, an attempt will be made to salvage something. Grateful to have made it to school March break. All in all, it has been a winter to remember.

Grooming done for the day. Best we could do was roll it. Lots of people out.

Kichi Sibi Winter Trail @wintertrail.bsky.social · 14/03/2026

It is the lovely people out on the trail that make this job soooooooooooooo worthwhile!

Morris Home Team, a long time sponsor of the trail, as well as many other community projects; we thank them for their continued support.

Sound, transparent, and organized financial management are essential characteristics for running a registered charity. Our board of directors is well of control of it, but we also have the backing and incredible support of Meridian Credit Union. Our values match up. Together we are stronger.

As the season winds down, it is important to acknowledge our sponsors. Caldwell Wealth Management Group of RBC Dominion Securities is one of our gold sponsors and they are in the world of personal finance.

Guest Snow Groomer this week. My interview with Nick Gauthier, manager and head snow groomer of Larose Forest in Prescott Russell. Information sharing is essential in this business!

Current Trail Conditions: admittedly ski conditions are not great but for a hard and uniform surface that is perfect for walking and biking, consider it. One could argue that K-Trail is a safer surface than many street sidewalks today. We are a multi-use trail after all.

020

Kichi Sibi Winter Trail @wintertrail.bsky.social · 05/03/2026

We remain to host school groups, on a daily basis, from Remic Rapids. This means we need to be vigilant with our grooming. At zero degrees last night, the Remic Rapids and Kitchissippi Woods loops got regroomed and smoothed out for today. It had to be done while the snow was warm enough to work.

031

Kichi Sibi Winter Trail @wintertrail.bsky.social · 04/03/2026

Still taking the approach of quality over quantity. Remic Rapids remains best. Using the Tidd Tech groomer, was funded by a grant championed by a student? He loved the trail, wanted to contribute, but didn't have $$ to make a donation so instead he contribute time, sweat and brains.

010

Kichi Sibi Winter Trail @wintertrail.bsky.social · 03/03/2026

We chose QUALITY over QUANTITY today. With the warm temperatures on the horizon, we threw caution to the wind and ground up some icy trails. It is the best we could do and the final product is excellent. If you are planning to ski, go straight to Remic Rapids and enjoy the last of the good snow.

010

Kichi Sibi Winter Trail @wintertrail.bsky.social · 01/03/2026

Sunday grooming postponed. The warm temperatures from yesterday followed by the cold over night has made the snow too hard to work.

Smothered park bench. At this rate, we will be skiing until July! I can’t think of a better winter for snow, except when I was young.

Thursday Report. Everything got groomed; even Mt.Lebreton for all those Klaebo types. Wind is subsiding. Snow quality is amazing. (Burned a lot of gas today doing the work that had to be done. Thx @osgoodeapts for being a gold sponsor and being a part of it.)

No man's an island. As a charity, good governance, transparency, accountability and being highly organized is essential to making the trail possible. It is a working board of 9 members, and everyone one goes home with homework!! Meetings are held monthly, except in summer.

011

Kichi Sibi Winter Trail @wintertrail.bsky.social · 26/02/2026

Thursday Plan: we will be out in full force today. Lots to clean up from yesterday and snow to be tamed in preparation for warm temps in the make.

Kichi Sibi Winter Trail @wintertrail.bsky.social · 25/02/2026

Grooming postponed: with snow forecast to run all day, we will resume tomorrow.
