Most people if they’re conservative just say no thanks and it’s fine. Some people are offended you exist let alone knock on their door. I’ve found most people just don’t answer or they’re preoccupied with their own lives that they don’t know who’s who. It can be very inspiring and depressing.

Thank you! Anything is better than nothing, you’re doing more than 99% of people. Most people can barely donate 10 bucks let alone volunteer or phone bank. I canvassed for the primary and that was honestly pretty awesome. The general has been more contentious but it’s not too bad.

I was canvassing not long ago and I had this older couple give me a hard “absolutely NOT” for my candidate. I simply said “Ok, enjoy your gas prices!” That pissed them off SO MUCH because they knew I was right. The husband mustered together a “OH I WILL!” And then “HE STARTED IT!” Not sure who he is

I have full health benefits, paid vacation time, retirement matching 10%, and some other perks in terms of the work itself. I also have the ability to do side work for extra $$. There’s other fields I wish I would have pursued but this have given me stability and a great life.

It’s like making the MLB, yes work your way up through the minor leagues getting experience but you ultimately need to make it to the bigs. Never get stuck in lower leagues. Also always go to school, you can’t put a price on an education. That 15k I spent on student loans has me making 90k a year

If you’re doing commercial work wiring up control boards and sitting at a laptop most of the day, making the same or more…probably better on your body. Union commercial work beats residential all day every day and for younger guys I always tell them to strive for that.

I’ll say this as a current trades person(M37). The trades can be what you make of it. If you’re working out of a truck doing hvac on your own and you work that for 30 years only doing residential or light commercial, you’re probably gonna be busted up by 55.

They really aren’t, I’d have a cargo van any day of the week over a stupid truck for work. I own a truck but I actually use it for its purpose. Like hauling trailers, going off road, loading things into the back, getting it scratched and dinged up. It’s my daily driver as well.
