Also related, unrelated It bothers me when people say "clanker" the way they do Whether AI is sentient or not, the way it's used is basically a slur, even if it's socially acceptable, and leads me to wonder what other slurs someone who says things like that would say if they could get away with it

I know too many talented artists and writers and such who rely on commissions and such to not bring that up. But I'm also hopeful that when the AI bubble bursts we see a lot of the unethical uses go away

Having taken the time to actually listen I will say, I hope that in the future we can have ethical non destructive AI as a tool to help up. However, ethical AI also means no art theft for training purposes and that is still something I will bring up even when unrelated.

I just had a very enlightening conversation about ethical AI and using it as a tool, and I love that kind of positive outlook, but so long as it is harmful, I don't know that we should be using it so frequently.

Simply put because we can still, currently, see with actual code what the process is. I would never intentionally put anything genuinely sentient or thinking through that. But then again, I wouldn't wish the psych ward on anyone, even if it is necessary at times for people like me who needed it once

When AI is actually sentient things will be different, but for now it's code and a bunch of information mashed together to give the feeling of sentience. There are no actual thoughts. Just prompts that they then act out

But it most certainly is not ableism to say we have not yet achieved true ai, yet, and that open ai is not the same as thinking ai. It's a series of prompts and mining for information

Intelligence is A prerequisite for respect, but that doesn't automatically make you intelligent for showing respect. If you respect someone/thing that doesn't deserve it, you betray your intelligence and enable bad behavior. You should really think before you speak if you're preaching intelligence.
