Three 'Species' paintings that I made for D&D's new Revised Player's Handbook – Dwarves, Elves, and Orcs!
Painting of a dwarven smithing workshop, with dwarves performing various tasks.Painting of an elven enclave, featuring numerous elves engaging in various activities such as painting, playing music, gardening, or simply relaxing.Painting of an orcish hunting party outdoors in a badlands environment. Several of the orcs are handling Harris's Hawks, with younger orcs learning from the older members of the party.

It wasn't from their official twitter or anything, just one of their ADs putting out a thread at random (and she didn't mention Daggerheart/Darrington anywhere either, just that it was for an upcoming fantasy project). Very easy to miss! 😓

I think I remember a twitter thread from one of their ADs asking for folios, but no formal process! Not sure how it'll work in future though

Reminded of hiw every time you Game Over in Banjo Kazooie they show an elaborate sequence of the villain's evil plan succeeding, which wasn't even that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things

Important to note that these hours don't track time spent eating or taking small breaks, so they're generally not "8 hour" days — only time spent actually focused working was recorded

Dungeon Meshi and Witch Hat Atelier are both such lovely, fresh takes on fantasy worlds/tropes

I remember realistic career insights to be refreshing in school — profs tended to avoid talking about how one would actually get a job doing illo, how to hunt down clients, and what those first few years can be like

I mean, there's always hoping for the catastrophic implosion of the models used to power it, but I'm not sure if those can just be decentralized and kept from legal repercussions? In the meantime I will paint my pretty pichurs

If you can find second-hand Herman Miller Aeron or any of the Steelcase office chairs, they're incredible. The sticker price is ridiculous but lots of offices seem to churn through chairs, and you can find em in decent condition around lots of cities if that's an option.

It's nice! I liked the version with the green/white/blue stripes, but this is still a pretty good option

[Art VS Artist 2023] '23 was a really good year for me art-wise! I landed some awesome projects that'll be coming out next year, and got to push into some new territory for both style and medium — can't wait to show what I've been working on lately ☺️
Photo of me (the guy posting) surrounded by several of my paintings that were released to the public this year. Full text descriptions for those available on each of their individual posts via my main profile!

Still a backup until features get a lot more developed and membership becomes more desirable. Some communities seem to be rockin' it, but overall there isn't a huge demand for most folks to get here. It's mostly content creators, not so much consumers.

It always feels like they rightfully hire designers early on, but after the apps have made it past that volcanic stage the execs keep side-eyeing design teams like "hey, why do we keep y'all on?", to which the employees gotta pitch reasons that they're still needed

if everyone at the table loves crunchy combat it can be pretty fun (and made to be quite challenging/engaging), but if even ONE of your players doesn't give a shit about the mechanics then I 100% agree

The comparison of drawing to a win/lose game is kinda neat, actually, in that a lot of folks starting in art seem to think that a 'failed' piece of art means that they're not worthwhile artists. It's more losing at a sport, or a game of Go — it happens to everyone, and you learn from it :D

While I'm currently too busy to make BG3 fanart (the game is good!), I'm happy I got to do some promo work for their Early Access patches :D
Painting of a drow druid wielding natural magics in a forest setting. Her clothing and armor are covered in bark and leaves.Painting of an elven sorcerer with silver scales on his face channels magical ice in a magma-filled cavern.Painting of a raging barbarian atop a table in a tavern. Other patrons seem to be fighting and tossing objects around, and the barbarian looks ready for a fight.

When you phrase it like that it makes me think of younger folk gradually losing the ability to use file directories or PCs in general because of simplified operating systems on phones/tablets — having less and less precise control in exchange for simple button-press functionality

Planning out a session 0 for a mini-campaign (~10 sessions) as a break from our usual campaign. Basing the mini campaign on Ultima Underworld, Hallow Knight, and Undertale, with tone on the level of Over The Garden Wall or Adventure Time in terms of seriousness :v

I often think about pose lengths in life-drawing classes; ie. you'll approach work differently on a 2-min pose vs a 30-min pose. I started tracking how much time I spend individually on thumbs/underdrawing/rendering, and it's pushed my completion times way down knowing how long it 'should' take me!
