Barry Lyndon @wineplz.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Before you give up on Japanese wine, there are honestly so many Japanese wineries I’d love for you to try: ◆ Domaine Oyamada ◆ Manns Wines “Taruzikomi” Chardonnay ◆ Domaine Takahiko ◆ VOTANO WINE If you ever make it to Japan, you absolutely have to try some of these! 121
Barry Lyndon @wineplz.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Kuromoji is enjoyed as a tea in Toyama and Nagano. Chris loved it too, and the French restaurant Levo in Toyama serves it as well. It has a unique, intriguing flavor that’s a little different from typical Japanese teas. I’d definitely recommend trying kuromoji black tea too. 010
Barry Lyndon @wineplz.bsky.social · 01/10/2026You can get it in Japan for around ¥2,900 — that’s about €16.3 or $18. 100
Barry Lyndon @wineplz.bsky.social · 01/10/2026My husband Chris loved this wine too. We even brought it to a sushi restaurant and drank it there together. It’s one of those wines that has a lot of memories attached to it for me. And the fact that it’s relatively easy to find in Japanese supermarkets is a huge plus. 🍷🇵🇹 110
Barry Lyndon @wineplz.bsky.social · 19/09/2026I found out today that the label on a Gamay wine that my husband and I drank and loved in 2022 actually has a cat on it, not a chameleon. I still can’t figure out how you’re supposed to see a cat in it. Which part is the nose and eyes, and which part is the ears? 110

Barry Lyndon @wineplz.bsky.social · 30/07/2025Last night I was on the balcony with my family waiting for a cactus to bloom. This flower blooms only one night, only at night. I looked forward to seeing it, but fell asleep at 8. When I woke, it was past 1 am. They had already bloomed. It was beautiful.
Barry Lyndon @wineplz.bsky.social · 09/07/2025Japan is set for a hot year due to La Niña. I walk at 5 a.m., but it’s already over 27°C. The heat may last until September. I’m turning six this year, so I’m trying to stay cool—mainly by drinking lots of water.
Barry Lyndon @wineplz.bsky.social · 07/05/2025While I was napping, spring slipped away and early summer arrived. With temps over 20°C, I’ve come to really appreciate park water fountains. My usual 3 km walk takes an hour, but for my health, I might shorten it. When your belly’s inches from the pavement, overheating is a full-body event. 110
