The right seem obsessed with banning postal votes. The LSE looked into 2019 GE and found that it was centre left voters most likely to vote in person. If we’re to believe it’s mainly older people supporting Reform then they are most likely to benefit from being able to vote by post.

I know it’s not perfect-looking but your Domestic Goddess recipe and method has produced the best tasting Vicky Sponge we’ve ever had, so thank you!! Never realised you could just bung all the ingredients in at once rather than creaming butter/sugar first, so easy! Brilliant result too.

I should mention the small detour down Mill Lane was to see “The Limes” mentioned in this book but as a bonus a resident checking I wasn’t lost (I had strayed too far) started telling me about when Michael Caine and Jimmy Page used to be his neighbours at Old Mill House which I hadn’t known.

Thanks Amy. I sometimes do a morning loop taking me to all 6 (15km) but I did walk the length of Dedworth Rd to Oakley Green a few times in case I’d missed one. It’s interesting to see the old ones on google street view gradually fading as you start from the earliest images and spin forward.

That’s fair comment. I’m not confident I know when peaks are soft or stiff in any whipping scenerio. The meringue was like slightly wet shaving cream when I topped my pie but it was still gooey 10 mins oventime later so was just wondering if you have to use foil to protect it from burning?

Hi Nigella, your icing sugar trick to convert uk desiccated coconut into US shredded worked well when attempting a Tom Cruise chocolate coconut Bundt although I also didn’t have a Bundt tin and I decided to use milk chocolate.

I attempted to create a nest effect using a piping nozzle but it kept getting clogged and I looked like a toddler doing messy play. So Twirls were cut and added to cover that disaster and create the nest look. I hope I have done your recipe proud - proof of the pudding will come later

Thank you Nigella - Stage 1 seems to have been negotiated and will add the filling tomorrow. Still not 100% sure I am confident at spotting when egg whites are firm but not stiff nor how much whisking was needed on the yolks mixture.

Yesterday we visited the most incredible Sculpture Park nestled in the beautiful Hampshire countryside. Ironically it is situated not far from The Devil’s Punchbowl because this was a slice of Heaven dished up on a platter.

Sadly I failed 😟. My polenta ended up like underlay. I only cooked one of the two lasagnes I made so was able to deconstruct the other, make some white sauce and put it back to together with traditional lasagna sheets. Not sure how it was meant to turn out but at least I tried!

Then I used the folding tool to add the rest of the SR flour. The cake mix looked fluffy and beautiful. Stuck it in a fan oven at 170 for an hour and I have never ever had such a bad result. Scientifically I’m not even sure if it’s air in the eggs or gluten in the flour in meant to be protecting

Arguably this cover is more beautiful. I got this wonderful book a few days ago from my beloved as a 9th anniversary gift. Just baked Damp Lemon & Almond Cake and you do mention how violently different ovens are - this was overcooked after 50 mins. Are the oven temps suitable for fan ovens?
