I am almost finished with the script for Episode 7 of Winds of Change, and it's by far the longest I've ever written for a podcast. But that's what happens when you try to cover the First World War, Indian revolutionary plots, the return of Gandhi, and the Imperial War Cabinet in one episode!

I got pinged about this comment on Reddit about the show - if there's space between @theresthistory.bsky.social and HardcoreHistory I will happily take it!

The first reviews/comments for Winds of Change - positive across the board, but I think my favourite is Cian's: "I feel like I'm listening to a BBC documentary but they finally let an academic run the show without their hands tied behind their back."

"We've made artwork of your podcast episode" - Headliner. I don't think their AI knows what a cannon looks like.

Today I had a wonderful chat with @christinawelsch.bsky.social about the armies of the East India Company, it's expansion in the 18th/19th centuries, and the military culture of its officer class. We also spoke about her book The Company's Sword, her current project on the 2nd Anglo-Mysore War.

Yesterday I spoke with the fantastic Vineet Thakur about the life and times of VS Srinivasa Sastri - liberal politician, follower of GK Gokhale, friend and rival of Gandhi, international critic of Jan Smuts, and India's representative to the world.
