Basil ran ahead to touch the water with his toes, and if all went well, they would come back for a swim at lunchtime. Sunny took out the camera and brought it to his face

Basil wrapped his arms around his knees, music was playing in one earphone. Sunny was lying opposite, seemingly dozing.

Calm and quiet. They spent all the past days together, and now they are together, and they will spend the Christmas together, now it will always be like that. He will no longer be lonely and scared, everything is different now. Then why is it so sad? Everything was fine, and he felt sad, he wanted to climb onto the shelf next to Sunny, settle down next to him and feel that he was warm, that he was breathing regularly and deeply.

So many good things happened, it became melancholy only out of habit. Just Basil's bad habit. He won't wake up Sunny.

"I can still smell the fire
Even though it's long died out
The smoke still hangs in my hair
And on some quiet evenings it burns my
eye

The song sounded quietly in the headphones, but it seemed to Basil that it was drowning out everything around and ringing like broken glass, eating deeper and deeper under the very skin.

What kind of strange fear is this? His fingers squeezed the blanket tightly, and Basil closed his eyes to hold back the tears that were coming. He won't wake up Sunny.

He was sitting here again, alone, and the bed seemed prohibitively large for him alone. It's cold and dark here

He gathered air into his lungs and a quiet, guilty voice cut through the silence:
"Sunny?"

It became warm, it became clear and nice. Snowflakes were flying outside the window, Basil laid his head on Sunny's shoulder, and exhaling with relief, closed his eyes. Sunny hugged him, trying to close and protect him, covered his shoulders with a blanket and began to slowly stroke his hair, calming him down.

After a while, Sunny whispered something kind to drive away the shadows of oppressive feelings, reminding Basil that he was nearby.

Sunny ran his hand through the hair on the back of Basil's head, it was pleasant and ticklish. In response, Basil shuddered and smiled contentedly, then stretched like a cat after sleep, and looked cheerfully at Sunny, catching a warm smile in response.

The train continued to move, its wheels clattering, and by morning they would return home.

Don't dare regret anything
Remember what you're here for, you
Just play your violin
And we will manage somehow
