There's two paths in front of the Dem party. Continue as is, shifting to the right and serving their wealthy donors with voters bouncing back and forth between rage at them and the GOP. Or go left and pass legislation like Medicare For All and stay in power for generations. (They'll choose $$$)

Obama had a majority and wasted it trying to get a Grand Bargain. Dems could have ended the filibuster and passed lots of good stuff with a simple majority, but that would have upset the donors so... Establishment Dems are there to get rich and polish their credentials, not to help people.
