Next up on the list! As one who loves a good bit of faeries and folklore, I’m quite excited to see how this one goes. 💙📚💙📚💙

Ok, so I haven’t finished “Colour of Magic” yet, but I forgot it at my friend’s house last weekend so we’re starting one I’ve been looking forward to reading for a number of years now. 📚💙 I read the first book some years ago and I’m excited to see how the story progresses!
“Hollow City”, the second novel of “Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children” by Ransom Riggs.

The cover features a girl of perhaps 12 standing against the backdrop of crumbling buildings. She has a large, clear hole in her torso that allows a view of the rubble behind her. This doesn’t seem to distress her in any way.

Turns out meringues are hard to make. Might’ve helped if I’d looked at just one recipe for the time-temp combination. At least the non-burnt ones are edible.
Two baking trays holding hand-dolloped meringues. The meringues on the left tray are burnt on the bottom, and the meringues on both trays are a toasty brown colour.

Alright, physical book #2 for 2026 is going to be Terry Pratchett’s “The Colour of Magic”. This will be my second foray into the Discworld, but I don’t think reading Mort in middle school with absolutely no understanding of what I was reading quite counts. 📚💙

Centianna! Art done by Betsy Lee of “No Evil” fame on YouTube. This lady’s a hunter through and through. She’s a member of the Red Cloaks, her village’s hunters/wardens, and she takes pride in her hunting abilities. Her favourite knife is one with a handle carved by her mate as his proposal to her.
An elf stands in the middle of a forest, holding a bow and arrow ready but not drawn. She has blonde hair in two low braids and grey-ish toned skin, with red paint smeared across her eyes and a confident, nigh predatory grin as she smirks at the viewer. Her garb is a simple brown skirt, white shirt with brown leather stays and matching boots. Her look is completed by a short red cloak with the hood pulled up.

One of my DnD characters, Vayala Amaris. She's an ocarina playing bard.
Vayala Amaris. A young woman, Egyptian inspired, wearing various colourful layers of linen. She is a bard by trade and her instrument of choice is the ocarina. She has a fairly laid-back personality and is happy to go with the flow, seeing herself as more of an observer and recorder of events than one who directly influences them. That being said, she loves a good joke.

Image created in the Jewel of the Nile dress up game on Doll Divine because I can't draw.

So my first physical read for 2026 is this one here! I actually started it on Xmas day last year, but close enough. As of posting, I’m currently at chapter 14, right around the halfway mark. So far, I’m very much enjoying the story and just how ridiculous things can be in this book’s world. ♥️ ♥️♥️

It’s very healing sometimes to go water the garden and find happy little bees exploring the various blooms. Here are a few on my zinnias. #flowers #bees #gardening
