Hey FYI the main reason women get stress fractures in the Army is that the heavy rucksacks they carry WERE DESIGNED FOR MEN. They do a shit job of distributing weight to the hips (where we are stronger w our builds). It's a design flaw. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

If the government goes down so do it's leaders. Every branch should lose their insurance unless paying COBRA prices. Including the President. No secret service. No limousines. No golf.

You're suggesting military round up and forced labor? Dude this is slavery. It's not cute when the Republicans advocate for it, still not cute when the supposed left does it either

These colors are incredible! I would love to see something inspired by it that isn't as specific to Korean culture.

Ornate Saxon copper brooch intricately decorated with gold and garnets, AD 650-670. Found in a woman’s grave during excavations in Floral Street, Covent Garden, once in the heart of ‘Lundenwic’, the early Saxon town of London. Museum of London 📷 by me #Archaeology

My photo shows a Saxon disc brooch made of copper embellished with gold plates and gold wire, set with five garnets in gold bosses, four of which are arranged around a larger central boss, and a mosaic of tiny polished garnet slabs around the outer edge of the brooch, and forming a four pointed star-like geometric shape around the central boss. The brooch measures 7 cm in diameter.

Excavated from a woman’s grave by AOC Archaeology in 2000. This type of brooch was a fashionable status piece amongst aristocratic Anglo-Saxon women in the AD 600s. The woman’s grave also contained glass beads and silver rings.

Every flashbang could instead be a meal for a poor kid. Every hotel room for a National Guardsman deployed to fire at our neighbors could house a homeless vet. Every "less-than-lethal" bullet pulled from a journalist's eye could be already needed healthcare for anyone else. All of this is a choice.

I think the two places are a reasonable comparison, but not for the politics, rather the income difference. ND is significantly less wealthy than SF. It wouldn't surprise me if the average SF resident was able to fully follow lock down more than ND residents.

The printing press and the development of postal systems. You need to be able to disseminate information for science to go from simple experimentation and folk wisdom to laws and theories.

I don't generally participate in the New Years Resolution, but I've been re-engaging with a lot of things I've left behind this year. There's power in ritual and communal action. The combined intentionality perhaps is what I need to succeed where I've failed before.
