Parked near a Hyundai Ioniq 5N today. It's about 20cm longer than my Zeekr X, but otherwise quite similar dimensions.

Found one of the United Energy power pole mounted/kerbside AC chargers in my local council area. They are 3 phase (22 kW) EV charger units from Connected Kerb. Looks like United Energy are installing 100 units across Victoria as part of their trial engage.unitedenergy.com.au/EV-charging

Charge power stayed fairly constant at around ~150kW, dipping to 143kW around 64%, and from memory 130 at 75% and stopped at 80%.

We've got a Vic state election coming up in November, and yet I haven't really heard anything about any parties' EV policies. Glad that there's an open tender for Electric Buses, hopefully it goes ahead regardless of who wins the next election. We're way behind NSW/ACT in many categories on this.

With the weekend road trip and a few days of driving during the work week, the EV passed its first 1,000km. I've been a bit of a lead foot for the first few weeks of ownership. I'm sure I'll grow out of it once the novelty wears off.

Was looking at the charts on evdb.nz/nz-vs-au and it doesn't look all bad for YTD? The lease/FBT exemptions really help here, but also the more affordable smaller EVs that have launched in recent months have also helped a lot (plus financing/discounts on some of them too).

And now it has to compete with the BYD Atto 1 (aka Seagull). It would be cool to see the EV2 here, but it'll be a brutal fight against GAC Aion UT, Atto 1/2, Geely EX2, MG4 Urban, Ora 5 and more. The small EV market is really heating up now in Australia.

Ah, the Picanto. It's historically done well over here as it was cheap and economical, which is perfect for uni students etc. But I think it's decline has coincided with removal of the base trims, and then arrival of the Chinese competition (ICE cars like MG3). Via atlas.carexpert.com.au/make/kia

Never got around to posting the short video clip I recorded of that EV DC charging session. Context: Picked up my first EV (2026 Zeekr X RWD with 61 kWh LFP battery) on a Thursday, road tripped on Saturday. Got home with ~12%. No home charger yet, so test charged to 50% at a V4 Tesla Supercharger.

And this is my city in Australia. Stadium up top is one of the major ones, which can hold up to 100,000 people. There's a tram line just out of frame up the top, train station middle right. Major train lines splitting the stadium up top from Melbourne Park (home of Aus Open) with more trams too.

Interesting image from the article with lots of stats on the Australian and New Zealand EV market. While BEV share of new car sales has grown from 12.1% to 20.8% from Q1 2026 to Q2 in AU, NZ only went from 7.7 to 10.8%.

Which is why there's a historical attachment to certain US, Euro and Japanese brands here (rather than just talking about just EVs). Also, don't forget the presence of the Korean brands here too with their EVs (including built in China for Kia EV5/Hyundai Elexio).

Yeah, that's why I walked next door the the Zeekr dealership and ordered (after a test drive) the platform twin - Zeekr X RWD (my local Zeekr dealership is owned/run by the Volvo one so they share premises and some staff). The Zeekr X is slightly longer than the EX30 and isn't as minimalist.

There's still sadly so many regional areas across Victoria where the only charger is <= 50kW and/or there's a limited amount of charging bays/CCS2 plugs. Often those regional 50kW chargers have 1x CCS2 plug and 1x CHAdeMO.

Most of the Chinese competition here at that prince point (< $55,000 AUD) have LFP batteries, so range isn't as high. However, the Chinese competition is often $10k cheaper due to the LFP batteries with much more features packed in. Higher spec long range Chinese ones are much more expensive.

It's over 500m at Huntingdale 🙃 On the Haughton Rd side, you have to 1) Walk over to the car park exit at Haughton/Huntingdale Rd 2) Cross the busy road (no zebra crossing). 3) Cross a less busy service road 4) Enter into a tunnel and go underneath the station 5) Follow the steep ramp up to station

If Tesla didn't have a deliveries dip every few months, then the May figure wouldn't be so high. That said, even if you average it out over the past 5 months, it's still over 2,400 per month. Which would still have them topping the chart every month for EV sales. Via thedriven.io/2026/06/03/a...
