Name lists of US PoWs who died in Dartmoor Prison. Saddest of all is, after the USA win the war of independence, most of these men remained locked up, while Britain and the newly-formed USA argued over who'd pay to repatriate them. As a result, they rioted, and many were gunned down.
Memorial for the US men buried behind the Dartmoor Prison. It says they're not forgotten, but the cemetery is not in great shape.A large granite slab, carrying the names, dates of death, and places they came from (where known).A large granite slab, carrying the names, dates of death, and places they came from (where known).

Spent too long bike fettling this morning, so I drove into Plymouth, and cycled from there. Encountered some heavy congestion whilst cycling.

Padstow hates cyclists, despite profiting hugely from the cyclists on the #CamelTrail. Nasty little village, with anti-cycling signs everywhere. If you're telling me to dismount somewhere cars are allowed to drive, I'll make a point of NOT dismounting, and you probably won't like my 2-worded reply.

Had a good day, visiting eldest daughter. We had a mini road trip, and visited the grave of Kitty Jay (if you don't know the story, do look it up!) and later we had ice cream by the beach. Sho got me this 7" single, too. She knows my taste in music.

Gorgeous hike on Dartmoor. From near Buckfastleigh, I set off towards the Avon dam, then followed the river upstream. I wanted to go to Redlake, but I set off too late. Only a 5 mile hike, but plenty of 25% gradients.

I got so lucky with the weather, for cycling the Camel Trail, from Bodmin to Padstow. As a there-and-back, it's 25 miles. As an added bonus, despite the weather, it wasn't particularly busy, either. May have surprised some people with the drone following me along the last 4 miles or so.

When you see this view while out cycling, despair! The photo only shows 1/2 the drop into the valley. It's a double-dip valley, too: you ride up a reasonable 16% gradient, then it kicks up and stays at 29.5%. When you reach the summit of the 1st climb, you have Darkie Hill ahead & that's worse
