The answer as to “why” is basically: the Metro was built in the 80’s, intended to connect with an unbuilt N/S metro line underground at Charles Cntr. In the 90’s, they built a surface light rail line w/o federal funding, and took the easiest path through downtown, which happened to be Howard St

Was pleasantly surprised by transit in Colorado. Vacation =\=real life, but between the airport train, downtown Denver’s generous bus lane widths, the Bustang’s 3-pronged power outlets, and Eagle County transit’s shelters - all exceeded expectations. (Vail is cosplaying as Europe so I expect it)
