Here is my photo of five wood ducks, taken next to the local swimming pool, they like to hang out there
Two adult wood ducks and their three nearly grown up babies

you also don't have to show a boarding pass, which means that you can accompany passengers to the gate, or meet people straight off the plane

I'd say 20C (68F) was shorts and t-shirt weather in London, but it's more like at least 25C (77F) in Brisbane

Two ducks and their four babies at the swimming pool was the highlight of my day yesterday! (They were just outside the pool but occasionally I've shared the pool with a duck!)

$23 is a bargain, right, as long as you ignore the $800 shipping!

Ibises are similar, but I feel that if you can't keep enough of an eye on your sandwich to stop an ibis from nicking it, then maybe the ibis deserves it more than you

Humans don't write things like "The mental model that makes this click:" I think you're arguing on the wrong side here - I agree that it's easy to over index on use of em-dashes - but it's not hard to detect real AI slop in this post - of which Dan's paraphrase is just one example

As token prices become more in tune with the actual costs, those numbers will become less realistic (especially as people waste tokens on things that might be achieved in a much more efficient manner) www.404media.co/the-tokenpoc...

The Tokenpocalypse Is Here: Companies Are Scrambling To Stop Spending So Much on AI
Leaked audio from Accenture says a big source of AI token ‘chewing’ is people just converting PDFs to presentation slides.

Took me a while to parse the first line of that graphic (it might make more sense in context) - I read it as "the main reason was that the jobs were miles away!"

I asked @peta.thames.au last night whether ad companies made ads specifically so that they appear on Gruen - looking forward to watching the discussion of that one!

In our internal projects we have the inverted code review process, so that the AI reviewers comments have to be fixed or dismissed before any human is asked to spend cycles reviewing. It makes mistakes, but also catches some very subtle bugs for us

What is PJM? Looking at the record categories and seeing ERCOT, I guess it's a (very large?) regional grid?

I found it took about three months for my sleep to become normal. Lots of 4am wake ups in that period. A year or so on, and I often get up at 6am feeling fully refreshed having had a proper 7 or 8 hours. It definitely gets better, I just don't want people to worry if it takes longer than a week

If like me you're wondering where this button is, it only appears on pages that support reader view (which doesn't seem to be many of the pages I look at, sadly) An example that does work is Mozilla's documentation of the feature: support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/fir...

Fraser Tweedale is seeking source code for the MyGov app - he needs to raise 20k in 6 days to fund his case at administrative review tribunal - he's halfway there. Can you chip in? Or amplify the call? www.pozible.com/project/mygo...

@sunshowers.io summed it up wonderfully: "Code that uses LLMs better be the best freakin' code on the planet. If you're doing this, all your code should be extremely tight. Slow down: don't just spit out as much code as possible." [1:17:55] youtu.be/fmFt4-jjEc0?...

Do you happen to know of any good resources for learning about best native plants for erosion control? We've been using Lomandras based on suggestions from our Land for Wildlife officer but keen to learn more.

It also allows great people to choose to be support engineers (which can be a super fulfilling role) without a salary cut (often the only way to get a salary bump in support is to find a different role)
