Chatgpt doesn't seem to be quite there yet, GDP data lags at least a quarter. Integrating AI into the economy might take years or decades. Very early days.

It's really the best of worlds if they pick a candidate who runs better than Mills v. Collins yet isn't a violent psycho. Once again the democratic process of the voters picking a competent candidate failed completely. At this point, I think I'd go back to the smoke filled rooms.

So absolutely you had the measure of the man. At least there was some breaking point--even though it went too far.

Some view him as a necessary counter to Trump to win back low-information, aggrieved male voters that are destroying our country. I don't buy it either. Still would rather have Dems win the senate and stop Trump's lawless administration.

Disagree pretty strongly with the first point. That is not the kind of conduct for which people are prosecuted.

Fuck you, Gov Polis. “To be clear, I publicly ruled out, and have always said, I would never consider a pardon for Tina Peters," Polis said. A pardon would erase the conviction from her record. A commutation keeps the conviction, but reduces the sentence.

In a cowardly move that he waited until late on Friday afternoon to announce, Colorado’s Democratic governor is commuting the sentence of a Trump ally who was convicted for tampering with election equipment as part of Trump’s Big Lie. This is a stunning betrayal of our democracy.

Colorado's Democratic governor will let Trump ally Tina Peters out of prison early
Gov. Jared Polis' controversial commutation follows a pressure campaign by the Trump administration to free Tina Peters, an ex-county official who was convicted of tampering with election equipment.

This place would benefit from more moderate voices that ironically refused from the beginning to come over to bluesky because of the existing lack of diversity. chicken and egg problem. Those top MAGA profiles would add absolutely nothing to my experience.

That's where I disagree. Think his persona works w/ voters -- big guy with a deep voice in his early 40s, who was in the army and an oyster farmer. Very good at blaming the elite--which is exactly what voters want to hear. Think Collins is a slight favorite v him but a more significant fav v Mills.

Fair enough. I'm not in Maine anyways and I'd vote for Mills. All you do is post about Platner? Do you work for Mills or something?

After Gabbard had secret meetings with Assad coordinated by Neo-Nazi groups, and came out as pro-Putin and Assad, she still won her Dem primary easy. It was clear she was more MAGA than Democrat at that time, yet somehow Dems still voted for her.

But he's not campaigning on hate, right? Is he advocating for any homophobic or misogynistic policies? I'm Jewish and think he prolly is prone to antisemitic CTs but I wouldn't feel threatened if he gets a senate seat. Most likely outcome is he votes for stuff protecting minorities and LGBTQ.

Collins maybe but, for me, no way Cruz. Cruz unconditionally supports Trump who is much worse than Platner and much more powerful.

yeah you might've persuaded me. Obviously there is a ton at stake like SCOTUS which has pushed us towards a lawless kleptocratic oligarchy, & stripped rights from women, gays and trans. But voting for a guy who got a nazi tattoo... 🤔

He's a huge question mark but I think he'd probably be a better senator than Collins and he runs well v. her in polls. A lot Americans have conflicting racist, sexist, homophobic feelings and thoughts and not much political depth or ideas and he appeals to them w/o being as toxic as Trump.

Ok, Trump and co seem to be seriously drawing up plans to invade Kharg island, and they've deploying 50,000 troops. This looks too much like what happened in Feb for me to dismiss it as a mere ploy, despite the fact he simultaneously appears desperate to lower oil prices.

agree. I said he's unintentionally sabotaging -by trying to paint them as desperate to make a deal when they in fact have leverage. US still has not inconsiderable leverage of being able to assassinate anyone they are negotiating with.

I have some relatively small bets he's not sending in troops but who knows how long these negotiations last. He's unintentionally sabotaging them.

I'm rooting for it. Would be a blow against know-nothing fascism in the US. Though I doubt the political effect would last much longer than the midterms.
