A Red-backed vole with its cute little face covered in fresh snowflakes after digging around for sunflower seeds fallen from a nearby bird feeder.

An American crow calling out over a frozen landscape many years ago up in the Appalachian Mountains. Those were the best four years of my life.

Second photo of the Yellow-rumped warbler feeding on the wing. So stoked to have caught this shot just a moment before nabbing their tiny, winged prey.

I found a great opportunity to try out the tracking features of my new Nikon with this Yellow-rumped warbler feeding on the wing. Gotta love some backlighting!

This is what happens when you unknowingly take a leak by a tree with two barred owls perched above your head. Happy accidents!

They’re the cutest, confirmed….unless you’re their prey, then they’re definitely not cute.

My American mink buddy. I spent about 8 days, countless hours at sunrise and sunset, in a natural blind shooting photos and video of this fluff on their favored stream - not a good place to be a hibernating frog, I can tell ya that!

A pair of Trumpeter swans flying into their wetland at dusk with the setting sun to their back a dark eastern deciduous Forrest behind. A beautiful experience indeed.

This little thirteen-lined ground squirrel was eating turtle eggs nested in the soil - that’s ecology for ya 🤷‍♂️ This lucky shot shows the squirrel licking their chops after the feast….or just being rude/adorable.

A male bobolink with a beak full of caterpillars for the nest shot during my first wildlife conservation internship in 2019! Three years into wildlife photography, still shooting jpeg and loving every second of it - ah, those were magical days and I cherish them deeply.

I was lucky enough to watch this rough-legged hawk hunt, catch and eat a vole in one of my most favorite snowy bog landscapes with gentle snow falling from on high. I don’t take joy in the vole dying but tis the way of nature.

Burrowing owl greatly underexposed in somewhat midday light, which usually isn’t any kinda light I wanna be shooting. Shot in this way with this subject, I can be happy.

Reassurance by a new, safe and good hearted person who doesn’t have to be asked to give it can also be a love language and an aphrodisiac to the person who’s repeatedly had their trust, vulnerability, innocence, mind, body, heart and soul violated throughout their life by those closest to them.

Great egret feeding frenzy at a rookery about 2 hours West of me. Nice little camp out over night to enjoy a sunset and sunrise shoot with an immense amount of great egrets, gulls, geese, double-crested cormorants and black-crowned night herons.

I think I’m gonna go on a bit of a burrowing owl run here. Literally not one person looks at my photos on here anyway so this is really just for me and I’m essentially talking to myself here, as well haha Burrowing owl from down in FL, backlit with the setting sun.

Burrowing owl from Florida several years ago before the state fully lost its marbles. These amazing underground nesting owls were easily the highlight of that monthlong camping and photography adventure…..other than getting to hold a 7-foot Burmese python…

Northern rough-winged swallow. So fun to ramble around wild places quietly observing for opportunities. I noted these swallows consistently landing on this perch over and over about every 15 minutes. I set up a tripod with some camo blankets to be less of a disturbance to them and to better capture their natural behaviors and away we went! Several days of pure joy and excitement.

A red-winged blackbird coming in for a landing on one of my favorite restored wetlands for another absolutely beautiful sunrise shoot. If I could do one thing for the rest of my life it would be to experience and capture the beauty and art of the natural world all around us.

Red-shouldered hawk hunting on a burnt tree trunk following a prescribed burn down in Floridaland some years ago. Doing nothing but camping, exploring and shooting photos of wildlife for a month straight all around Florida was the time of my life. Ahhhh the open road!

Another adorable duckling from the sunrise shoot two days ago. Having a hobby to be passionate about has definitely helped me stay sane and alive through many of life’s ups and downs including what we’re all going through these days. Thank god for wildlife and wild places….and for all that went into developing cameras as they are today.

Mallard duckling from yesterday morning’s sunrise shoot (with a camera). The light was phenomenal, almost zero wind so the water was perfectly glassy, and this family of mallard momma and several ducklings made their way to right in front of my lens as I laid in a blind on the lakeshore. I love wildlife and photography so much.
