Where’s the #glass you might ask? Well, it’s molten inside the glory hole of the hot shop. The heat from these ovens feels immense, even from across the shop. I really don’t know how the glass workers stand it (except in winter - I imagine it’s quite nice then, lol). #BlueSkyArtShow #photography
Somewhat abstract image of a glass hot shop’s glory hole where the glass being used is kept molten. The glow from the furnace outlines the doorway.

I’ve posted this one before but couldn’t resist doing so again given today’s theme of #glass for the #BlueSkyArtShow. A glass artist works a piece in the hot shop.
A ball of glass attached to a glass blower’s pipe glows with heat from a flame as the piece is rolled and worked.

The PhotoPills app can help with determining max exposure length based on sensor size and focal length to avoid streaky stars
010 1
Steve Roberts @wildoutdoorsphoto.com · 23/11/2025
Depends on factors such as focal length - longer lengths need shorter exposures to avoid the stars streaking, shorter lengths can tolerate longer - and iso to avoid too much noise. I generally start at 20s, iso 6400, and go up or down depending on conditions.

Steve Roberts @wildoutdoorsphoto.com · 23/11/2025
Your eyes would just see a light haze in the sky (depending on your eyesight of course), with none of the color.
100 1
Steve Roberts @wildoutdoorsphoto.com · 23/11/2025
No filter needed. Just a dark sky site or somewhere away from city lights, a tripod, and a longish exposure. This was 20s at iso 6400, f2.8 at 16mm focal length. It’s also helpful to have a night with no or very little moon.
