Carl Chapman @wildnorfolk.bsky.social · 19/12/2025Oh come on Rutger; you can’t be surprised regarding removal of the comment against the background of what has gone off between the BBC and Trump in litigation over the past few weeks. The removal is NOT about capitulation but about a public body protecting itself and its financing from further harm 000
Carl Chapman @wildnorfolk.bsky.social · 09/12/2025Wasn’t the idea to have the aircraft over land rather than the sea for safety reasons as opposed to the quickest route? 100
Carl Chapman @wildnorfolk.bsky.social · 28/11/2025e may be able to give you some leads or advice. Failing that a source of endless information is Tony Irwin who is listed - what he doesnt know about invertebrates isn’t worth knowing 100
Carl Chapman @wildnorfolk.bsky.social · 28/11/2025If you look at the list of county recorders listed for every taxa on the nnns you should see a spider recorder listed norfolknaturalists.org.uk/wp/recording...norfolknaturalists.org.uk 100
Carl Chapman @wildnorfolk.bsky.social · 28/11/2025Andrew I was privileged to be able to chair the nnns through its 150th year and was heading to do so again for the next few years before the tumour that hit my life a few weeks ago. The availability of the information in the bird reports online is something I was keen on and introduced some tome ago 100
Carl Chapman @wildnorfolk.bsky.social · 28/11/2025after I had done time of the research for my latest book ‘Norfolks Whales and Whaling’ wwhich should have been delivered to you if you’re a NNNS member. 000
Carl Chapman @wildnorfolk.bsky.social · 27/11/2025Andrew I would encourage you to join the NNNS (norfolk and norwich naturalists’ Society. Carl Chapman @wildnorfolk.bsky.social · 25/09/2025No worries. There are other species guides on there too including Grasshoppers, Psyllids, Harvestmen, Orchids , mammals, fish, woodlice snd Shieldbugs which are all worth a look too. norfolknaturalists.org.uk/wp/publicati...norfolknaturalists.org.ukSpecies Guides | 000

Carl Chapman @wildnorfolk.bsky.social · 22/09/2025I do hope the beer slugger has considered the payback his ‘government’ would need to give to legal immigrants. I and my Australian wife have paid out just over £19,000 in visa fees over the last five years to obtain right to remain status. If rescinded I for one will be beating a path to the courts! 130
Carl Chapman @wildnorfolk.bsky.social · 14/09/2025Some great close waders on the Yorkshire Birding Tour last week ... including this Greenshank 030
Carl Chapman @wildnorfolk.bsky.social · 12/09/2025Thanks Gary - just travelling back from a week leading in Yorkshire will take a look tomorrow. 000
Carl Chapman @wildnorfolk.bsky.social · 11/09/2025Cesarean … love it! - I think we need to put that one in the ‘too hard basket’ I shall record it as ‘cetacean species’ as there are several it could be. Many thanks for taking the trouble to record. 000
Carl Chapman @wildnorfolk.bsky.social · 10/09/2025Rob/Gary - as you would guess it’s a tall ask to identify any cetacean from such distant photos. However I can tell you what it isn’t. It’s not a Harbour Porpoise or a Bottlenose Dolphin … it shows some features of Common Dolphin but any impression of size? 100

Carl Chapman @wildnorfolk.bsky.social · 24/08/2025There's a good reason why the god of desire and beauty, loaned his name to the Adonis Blue Butterfly. We went South on tour today to see these beautiful airborne waifs amid the short turf of south facing chalk. Extraordinary creatures. 030

Carl Chapman @wildnorfolk.bsky.social · 20/08/2025In a spot of 'extreme botanising' from a moving vehicle this summer we came across Thistle Broomrape at the side of the A1 020
Carl Chapman @wildnorfolk.bsky.social · 28/06/2025Up to 2000 the most common dolphin here in Norfolk was White beaked (a cold water species) now it’s Common Dolphin (a temperate water species) 020
Carl Chapman @wildnorfolk.bsky.social · 27/06/2025This is also exemplified by the increasing number of warm water cetacean species being seen in uk waters and the decreasing number of cold water species. 030

Carl Chapman @wildnorfolk.bsky.social · 04/06/2025Not the best photo in the world but the Black crowned Night Heron was so hidden yesterday evening it might as well have been on the moon! 080
Carl Chapman @wildnorfolk.bsky.social · 21/05/2025One or two bit's and pieces from tours over the last week or so. Including Green Hairstreak, Temminck's Stint, Wood Sandpiper, Garganey and Broad bodied Chaser. 390

Carl Chapman @wildnorfolk.bsky.social · 16/05/2025You don't often get a good view of the underside of a Wall butterfly. Walking along the coastal path last week there were more walls in flight than I've seen in the past few years in total. One landed and obliged by settling and lifting her skirts. 0141
Carl Chapman @wildnorfolk.bsky.social · 15/05/2025This Little Egret was brimming with breeding hormones. The lores were 'purple' with anticipation. 040
Carl Chapman @wildnorfolk.bsky.social · 15/05/2025Cley hit the jackpot with Temminck's Stints and Wood Sands this week but the most confiding wader was without doubt this chunky, subtly beautiful Greenshank. 020
Carl Chapman @wildnorfolk.bsky.social · 11/05/2025Three Little-ringed Plovers in a sort of avian ménage à trois made for lots of flying around and calling over the scrape yesterday. I guess it was a 'stay away from my woman' type of moment. 040
