#BackToTheWild Some stories end quietly. No applause, no headlines. Just the soft rustle of leaves, familiar scents, and the safe place it knows so well. Somewhere beyond the city lights, another wild life slips back into the forest, as though it had never left.

"If wildlife belongs in the wild, why can’t rescued elephants be released too?" It’s one of the questions we hear most often, and it’s an important one. Read the full blog to learn why rescue, not re-wilding, is the most humane path for these elephants: news.wildlifesos.org/op-ed-why-do...

While out on their daily walks at our centres, rescued elephants stop to browse, graze, and snack on whatever catches their eye along the way. While they have specially planned meals designed for their nutritional needs, these walks give them the freedom to explore and enjoy food on their own terms.

A special moment shared between Pari and her caregiver. For rescued elephants, healing goes far beyond medication or simply giving them a space to live. Over time, caregivers become a constant source of comfort and familiarity, understanding each elephant’s personality, routines, and emotions.

Every summer, we receive calls about birds collapsing from dehydration-not injury. As water sources vanish in urban heat, even a bowl of clean water on your balcony or doorstep can save lives. This black kite in Delhi recovered after rescue, hydration, and care—and was released back into the skies.
