Had some IRL responsibilities to take care of, so this is the first free moment to say: VeXpo was another wonderful event this year. Just a joy to see everyone, and to watch them have so much fun! Hope to see even more of you next time!

The haul from VeXpo, including prints, keychains, standees, and purchases for streamers that could only remote in. If you think Dandy’s Fredrick plush looks superimposed in… that’s because he was, I missed him in the original photo had packed everything else away by the time I’d noticed. My apologies!

Mulligatawny! With or without meat, so long as that curry spice comes through strong (second place goes to broccoli and Stilton, rich and tangy)

It was a VERY lovely holiday to boot A delight to see everyone at DoKomi, and wonderful to be out and about in Germany and Czechia! So many wonders, in nature, in the architecture, and in the food and wine (that I now need to burn off again!😅)

An excellent evening out at the RSC to see The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui. Great staging, and such a strong cast - Gatiss' Ui was grotesque and terrifying, Rizwan and Parkinson made themselves perfectly hateable, and many other powerful performances. Hugely enjoyed, and unfortunately relevant

The promotional poster for the RSC's performance of The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui by Berthold Brecht. This actually undersells how good the makeup work on Gatiss was, he was nearly unrecognisable as himself (though very recognisable as someone else). The teeth in particular will haunt me

Waiting in the Swan Theatre just before the curtain rose, view of the stage (faces of the audience blurred)

Waiting in the Swan Theatre just before the curtain rose, view of the stands (faces of the audience blurred)

A view of the stage after the play. The band playing Placebo songs stands on the moveable platform, while rose petals from the earlier massacre are scattered over the floor. A near copy of familiar and hated flag hangs down on the right of stage - Brecht finally dispensing with the last gossamer thin pretence of satire by the final scene

Stirring from a duck and Christmas cake slumber to say, Merry Christmas one and all! I hope you had a lovely day, and that you enjoy the rest of this Christmastide! 🎄 💜

A 2.4 kg roast duck, sitting after being taken out of the oven (don't ask why it's on an oyster plate)

My plate of the Christmas dinner - duck breast and wing, roast potatoes and mash, orange and garlic roasted carrots, stuffing, cheesy leeks, Brussels. Not pictured options for the meal: roast parsnips (courtesy of my brother) and cheesy cauliflower. Paired with Crabbie's Alcoholic Ginger Beer and a cracker

The completed Christmas cake, iced with fondant icing and decorated with icing hellebores, Christmas trees, and a Santa

The same Christmas cake, with Santa and the largest tree removed, and a slice cut to reveal the bake. A particularly good one this year, though maybe it could have tolerated a bit more brandy

And my reward to myself for hitting the goal... a whole duck! Served with a Cheddar and leek bake, red cabbage, my first attempt at potato Knödel (put them in while the boil was too high, I'll know next time!), and a light salad I am within 2000 kcal for the day, but perhaps salad tomorrow! XD

Best way I have to show mine and my Nana how much they mean, is to bust open my diet just for today, and make them a full and proper meal! 😆 Fish pie, clementine-roasted carrots, and other assortments, and then rhubarb crumble for afters! 🐟👨‍🍳

Carrots roasted with clementines and garlic, and a cod, salmon, and smoked haddock fish pie (with a gluten free sauce in the roux! Proud of that). Ready to serve, with my largest and thus favourite mug of tea in the background

Plated up for my nan! Fish pie, the carrots, potatoes roasted in olive oil and thyme, roasted tomatoes, green beans, mushrooms. Not pictured: the leeks

The finished crumble! Rhubarb, ginger, and a dash of brandy, with a GF crumb, and a bowl of whipped fresh cream

Plated up crumble! Not the most aesthetic one, as this is mine and I had the odds and sods
