A lot has been said about the fire at The John Bull Chop House but what a giant of the local pub scene. The news suggests it will be back in 10 months or so, hopefully. It will be greatly missed in the meantime and Wigan is poorer without it. We wish the team all the best. Long live the John Bull.

Last week we presented our Community Pub of the Year award for 2026 to the Albion Ale House Micropub in Standish. Pictured are staff Jennie and Liam flanked by owners Beckie and (landlord) Kevin, with their certificate and trophy. It's a great community pub and well worth visiting. #CPOTY2026

We had great pleasure in presenting our Best New Cask Beer Outlet 2026 award to Jonny, joint owner of Wigan Brewhouse Taproom in Wigan town centre on Friday. A very well deserved award for a great venue with 4 cask beers of their own available on rotation. Many congratulations from us all.

The Swan & Railway Hotel is a highly valued supporter of our festival and it is such a valuable heritage, pub and beer asset for our town too. Located directly opposite Wigan NW station and very handy for our heritage shuttle bus service, it is @wigancamra.bsky.social Pub of the Year 2026. #2026WBF
