Found a 2.6GHz i7 Mac mini listed “for spare parts” for $75. Opened it up, the SSD was dead so swapped in a spare 16GB RAM upgrading it from 8gb and a new 512GB SSD, and now it’s back to life as an extra mini NUC-style node for the lab. perfect tinkering box. #gamedev #indiedev #msp

They were factory resetting to toss a couple surface pros out. They are older surface pros, surface pro 3s but it seems such a waste to toss them so I grabbed 2. I'm factory resetting the 1st one & ran its updates. It took a bit to factory reset & it booted slowly but once up, it runs decently.

Bots found port I'm using for Agones swarm.. saw huge spike in connections today. Too much for my beta testers. After some discovery I found indeed it's connections from China, Russia, Poland ... Spun up spectrum in Cloudflare and ended up rerouting my traffic for a win! 👍 Another day in the verse!

During the day I work at a msp & we picked up new client this week. I've been working w them to setup aws backend for their AI employees!!! They basically run their entire business locally w ai agents & now want to relocate 'employees' safely to aws. I'm a glorified "2 men and a truck" for ai now 😂

Added boss battles to my fasting app 😂 they show up after you complete different intervals of fasting. Here's the 16 hr one. But I have bosses staged at 16,18,24 and 36 hrs. They get stronger further into the fast you get. #fasting #weight #health #tuesday

So making student QR checkin app for a #nonprofit music school. They have so many students that each time there is a class, the doorway is chaotic cause they are checking everyone in manually. Adding in gamification features like xp to checkins, streak scores, etc per student. Doing it all for free

So I've had the #pixel 10 pro XL for a bit but recently been pixel peeping it's photos against my Samsung s25 ultra and I have to say the pixel photos are looking a lot more grainy than I remember against it. I remember when the pixel 4xl was the king of photography and now the 10xl feels behind.

Writing some python scripts to automate my #unrealengine builds. I rewrote all of them from ground up. Added some texture optimizations in prebuild & the build went from 48gb to about 28gb so a big savings & it was lossless so textures still look great! #gamedev #indiedev #scifi #starcitizen

Window updates on my Asus ally handheld have rendered the handheld unusable. Even after running Asus crate updates the handheld is so slow it's not even worth playing on. Factory reset and it was fine till I updated again. Downloading #bazzite os now to try it on device. #steam #steamos #windows

So coded a realtime fail over in game client. Now when there is network instability or drops, the client does a call back and request migration to another server and the backend hands off the IP and node info. The players see a brief pause and then their instance is moved and they continue playing.

Agones automatically replacing crashed servers & ensuring 2 (or more) are always ready for players. Have hardware heartbeat working also running to monitor and alerts funneling to telegram. So exciting to see dashboard light up! Have it clustered on 2 proxmox servers both w 256gb ram already!!!

Have the proxmox os relinquishing ownership of GPU so I can assign it now to Vms. Took a bit but finally have it sorted. Now time to create a new template base os for my Agones backend which I will use to replace my older nodejs custom stack. It will scale better. #gamedev #indiedev #starcitizen

Installing proxmox on a extra threadripper I have. Installed 128gb ram, 1x2tb Samsung nvme drive, 1x4tb Samsung nvme drive and have a rtx 3090 installed. Just migrated to 5.7.2 since it just came out - after spending almost a month upgrading from 5.4 to 5.7.1 - I figured why not try and see if 5.7.2 works since I'm in an upgrading sort of mood and it upgraded without an issue... thank the unreal engine gods! 😂

Maps I am playing w adding enviro fog & dust particles. Since migrating to 5.7 environments have noticeable increase in speed due to the engine improvements so some of the vfx that I disabled for perf, I can improve on. #indiedev #unrealengine #scifi #science #gamedev #sciencefiction #starcitizen
