As if things like debt relief and eliminating junk fees and taxing billionaires are not things that would markedly improve the lives of poor people, too

Listen I can have lunch with some gun rights person and have a civil conversation about why we disagree but pretending that solves anything in a fascist takeover is ludicrous

Listening to a podcast that came out when Roe fell and briefly re-falling into my rage hole of the Dems never ratifiying abortion rights into law and leaving it to the courts. I WILL NEVER FORGIVE.

Macklemore became re-famous in the last like two years for being very explicitly pro-Palestine. How did he foresee none of this? Who did he think he was touring with?

To be fair this is what I expect people in Williamsburg to be wearing but at the same time in my head it’s still 2005.

One time a barn was collapsing so the volunteer fire department, including our bus driver, came and control burned it down while we watched from the roof (and I guess also the ground) #farmlife

“Tennessee Republicans claimed Dobbs as a major victory. But they won’t acknowledge the growing body of evidence suggesting abortion bans contribute to poorer maternal health outcomes, delays in miscarriage care, challenges recruiting physicians to TN…”

Tennessee Republican lawmakers failed women with lack of focus on maternal care
We must confront the reality that maternal deaths are more often the result of policy choices, not individual decisions.

You’re still not getting it. We are talking about Lindsay Graham who VERY CLEARLY AND EXPLICITLY KNEW EXACTLY WHAT HE WAS DOING. He is not inherently evil. He was actively and intentionally so.

I would argue that THAT is a very simple way of looking at the world. It belies any intention or knowledge of actively creating real, actual harm and the self-justification or true cruelty that allows it. That is, again, whitewashing truly dangerous people.

The actions of Graham and his ilk are immoral, unjust, illegal, unkind, violent, hateful, racist, sexist. Saying those things does not dehumanizing them, in fact it is extremely human. But it’s also true and cannot be whitewashed because he died.

When Steven Miller dies, I do not want to see a single eulogy about how he was a nice guy in meetings. People can have whatever private feelings about individual relationships but in the world we live in today, all normalizing and humanizing the right does is cede more ground for them to keep going

No they are not saying he was all good. But they are praising his wit and humor and affability and respect. Again: why? Why praise at all? You can just say you’re sad for his loved ones. All of the rest is a strange act of humanizing a person who loved to dehumanize others and gets no one anywhere.

I’m not asking that these people list every grievance (though that would be fun), but I would much rather them not spend this time neutralizing a person who did despicable things. He was not the curmudgeonly old coworker passively doddering about. He was actively destroying lives, with glee.

They are not saying they’re sad. They’re saying they respected his work - that he was charming and collaborative and affable. People dying does not mean we can no longer call for accountability. But also fwiw I am very happy he can no longer pass evil legislation. Do with that what you will 🤷🏻‍♀️

In the year of our lord 2026 and we are LITERALLY FIGHTING FASCISTS, who is the anodyne statement for? The 3 centrist voters who thought Lindsay Graham was fine actually(?!?!)? Fox and Friends so they won’t call Elizabeth Warren a communist (they will)? Other Senators? How does this help anything?

Does this plan require the creation of truly free and fair elections? No gerrymandering and no electoral college? I’m very curious what those results would be and if your “big tent on culture” actually already exists, it’s just in a different place than you think

There was no conversation about him wrestling with his refutation of Zionism with his understanding of Judaism, both religiously and culturally. It implies you can’t be both. That to be anti-Zionist… you should read the Bible

It is also the voice I am least interesting in hearing. I do not want a discussion about the actual teachings of Jesus in a conversation about Judaism and its relationship to the nation of Israel. Not to be that person but feels kind of… antisemitic?

That statement is where he lost me. The rejection of one theology for another (even if it is as grandiose as he describes) does not show clarity or the humility he claims to have. It’s just substituting one external doctrine shaping the world for another

The latest episode of The Dream is, indeed, creating a big reaction in me but probably not in the way she thought. It’s not about the leaving Zionism or criticizing Israel - it was the revelation that he had not just left the West Bank, he had also “cultivated a relationship with Christ.”

The thing about listening to old podcast eps is you have to do a lot of google to figure out which disastrous event everyone is avoiding talking about directly because it’s a comedy show and they’re already too sad to talk more

I think about this vs Adams who would do lots of showing up at parties to appear to love the city but clearly just loved clout. Mamdani shows up at parties for literal love of the game. He just loves New Yorkers, being one and being with them.

I did not grow up in a Sports Home. My father has an affinity for some sports but no team affinities, just love of the game. His ranking, in order: Basketball (beautiful) Football (occasionally interesting) ….. Baseball (boring) Hockey (never heard of it)
