Josue's story is the story of too many in the residential construction worker trade. Exploited beyond belief, to their breaking point. For what? For bad actors to squeeze more profits off the backs of exploited workers, risking injury and death.

One in twelve homeless workers in Los Angeles County is in construction. Evaristo, like all workers in L.A., deserves a livable wage, respect, and a home to lay his head.

In early July, a letter was sent to the entire Council addressing the lack of labor standards in the City's adaptive reuse ordinance. This oversight further enriches the Lee family and other developers, contractors, and subcontractors who disregard their workers.

You can’t tackle LA’s housing crisis by exploiting underpaid workers who can’t afford the homes they build. The Mayor's office highlighting a partnership with a developer known for violating labor laws is deeply misguided. It's not a flex. #JamisonProperties #WhoBuildsLA #LAHousing #Jamison

❗️After Hurricane Katrina, out-of-state contractors flew in, exploited their workers, and took the money back home. The Palisades rebuild is already underway. 📣 Los Angeles is at risk of the exact same pattern: workers brought in from elsewhere, underpaid, and revenue leaving the city. (1/2)

It's not the wages driving up costs, when only 14-cents of every dollar spent on building housing goes to paying workers. Raising worker wages won't break the budget; it'll build a more attainable LA. Get the facts. Link in our bio. #ResidentialConstruction #WorkersDeserveBetter #LAHousing
