M and I both love art and have been incredibly fortunate to see so many masterpieces and beautiful pieces that are not as well known. But I can count on one hand the art that has moved me to actual tears and this is one of them. The photos can’t capture how gorgeous and glowing it is

Created in the final year of his life, Altarpiece.
The Life of Christ (1990) is one of Keith
Haring's most profound and spiritually charged works. Originally conceived as a work for himself and later adapted for the Cathedral
Church of St. John the Divine in New York, where it was placed for his own memorial service, the monumental triptych reflects
Haring's engagement with themes of faith, mortality, suffering, and hope.
Drawing upon the traditional format of the Christian altarpiece, Haring reinterprets sacred imagery through his distinctive visual language of bold lines, radiant figures, and symbolic forms, bringing together contemporary art and religious tradition and transforming
the story of Christ into a universal meditation on human experience rather than a strictly
devotional image.
Completed only weeks before his death, as his health declined from AIDS, The Life of Christ stands as Haring's final major work and a deeply personal reflection on life, compassion, and transcendence, a closing statement from an artist who had spent his career searching for a visual language capable
of speaking to everyone.
