Strange Vine's earthy, energetic music is a fusion of blues, psychedelic, and traditional American rock. It's a sound born of California's Sierra Nevada Mountains, from two men who were raised there. Ian Blesse plays drums and Rhodes piano (simultaneously), while Toby Cordova fleshes out the songs with a rotating arsenal of guitars (including one made from a cigar box). Both contribute vocals toward a rich, layered sound that's greater than the sum of its parts.

Joshua Asante is a musician, writer and photographer. He has toured extensively as a solo performer, sharing what he calls "astral soul", a blend of electronic and soul music wherein which one can sense the presence of many artistic forebears in fluidity. Onstage, Joshua sings lyrics inspired by the travel through space, the paintings of Hughie Lee Smith, and the literary work of Black speculative fiction giants Henry Dumas and Octavia Butler. For his live iterations of these ideas, Asante positions himself alone surrounded by synthesizers, drum machines, guitars and a saxophone. More than a mere attempt at the often benign one man band endeavor, he seeks to distill his influences and abilities into a singularity worth sharing.

This Monday, September 28th ⚡️ We've the pleasure of hosting Six Bridges Book Festival to welcome poets Acie Clark, Ellie Black, and Lee Bains III to read from their debut collections and participate in a discussion moderated by Matt White. Ellie Black is a poet, memoirist, editor, critic, screenwriter, performer, and educator originally from Arkansas. She received a PhD in English, Creative Writing Concentration, and an MFA in poetry from the University of Mississippi. She is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor in English–Creative Writing at Hendrix College. Her debut poetry collection, REVELATOR, is the winner of the 2026 APR/Honickman First Book Prize.

Acie Clark is a multi-genre writer from Florida and Georgia. He has taught at the University of Central Arkansas, at Interlochen Center for the Arts, and at the Provincetown Public Library. He received his MFA from the University of Alabama, where he worked for Black Warrior Review as the online editor. His work has been supported by the Fine Arts Work Center, selected for Best New Poets, and anthologized in Divinity in the Margins, I Witness: An Anthology of Documentary Poetry. His debut collection of poetry, Small Talk, was published this month via Hub City Press, and is the winner of the New Southern Voices Poetry Book Prize. Acie lives in Arkansas.

Lee Bains is a poet and songwriter from Birmingham, Alabama, who since 2012 has released four studio albums of what Rolling Stone calls “Southern gospel punk," and has just published his debut poetry collection of poetry, Work Lunch, with Hub City Press. A cult songwriter forged in independent scenes, his work has carried him all over the U.S. and Europe. Funkanites are an eight-piece Little Rock Arkansas-based Afrobeat, Soul, and Funk ensemble. They are quite capable of handling any genre thrown at them, however, their focus is heavily on late 60’s and 70’s Afrobeat, Soul, and Funk with a contemporary spin on the genres. Big bombastic horn lines are the norm, as well as an airtight rhythm section that stretches and sews the pocket but never leaves it. They are ambassadors of a music that is not so readily available in a live setting in this day and age. They will move you.

Formed in 2015 by founding member Clinton Jacob as a joke. Mr.Phylzzz (pronounced Flyzzz) is an ever changing monster of noise. Over time Mr.Phylzzz has formed a heavy wall of sound filled with hooky riffs and melodic vocals- creating a chaotic storm that’s well worth the painful wall of cranked amps and exploding drums. During the growing years, Phylzzz was doing small tours which landed them getting picked up in 2019 by Amphetamine Reptile Records (AmRep) to be featured in the legendary “Dope Guns ‘N in the Streets” Vol 14 comp. Later that year they released their debut album “Penitent Curtis” (2019), followed by “Cancel Culture Club” (2022) on AmRep. In 2023 the band released “Fat Chance” on Amrep and completed a full US tour supporting The Melvins and Boris. The band is Chicago based. Mr.Phylzzz is comprised of Clinton Jacobs (guitar/vox) & Danny Sein (drums).

Adam Faucett's sixth solo album, New Variations of The Reaper, saw its official release on September 19, 2025. A touch too beautiful to call plaintive, Variations winds the listener through surreal dreamscapes and reminds them that "Nobody Wanna See This Alone." And like his previous releases, it maintains a strong sense of place-

Dopethrone is a Montreal-based DIY sludge/doom metal trio active since 2008, known for an abrasive, THC-soaked sound they call "Slutch". Featuring themes of addiction, murder, and misery, their music mixes NOLA-style sludge, black metal, and blues. The band is known for high-energy tours, particularly in Europe.

Fister is a three piece doom metal band from St. Louis, Missouri. The band incorporates heavy influences from the black and death metal genres into a depressing sludge spewing heaviness that many have attempted, but few have mastered. Bow to your new masters.

Known for their remarkable contributions to American music, Penn and Oldham have helped shape the sound of Southern soul and written songs that have become part of the musical landscape. This special performance offers audiences the chance to hear these two icons share their music, stories, and the history behind the songs.

The extensive list of musicians Spooner Oldham has played with includes Arlo Guthrie, Jim Croce, Gram Parsons, The Everly Brothers, Jackson Browne, Linda Ronstadt, Gene Clark, Ry Cooder, The Flying Burrito Brothers, Delaney and Bonnie Bramlett, Bob Seger, Maria Muldaur, Rita Coolidge, Bobby Womack, Albert King, Helen Reddy, Harry Nilsson, Stephen Stills, J.J. Cale, Drive By Truckers, and Neil Young. In his earlier days, he also made his way to the FAME studios and had the first of many collaborations with Penn. Dan Penn is an American songwriter, singer, musician, and record producer, who co-wrote many soul hits of the 1960s, including The Dark End of the Street, Do Right Woman, Do Right Man, and Cry Like a Baby.
