Just my opinion, this is the ‘news’ format I like least of all - video of text, bland soundtrack, no voiceover, no alt-text, no thumbnail, virtually no context given by the enclosing post.

..also lost access to DMs, so won’t be asking for advice that way. Bluesky offers an (i) link to Settings, but seems nowhere to actually list what features have been disabled.

First live show I saw in the ‘80s was a shambles - but he was the only artist I continued to see on *every*tour* (>35yrs) - until this.

First time I’ve seen the abbreviation in print, and it will never not be “International System of Units” to me (something many USAians seem to have a problem with). Even Australian rural news reporting seems to be using “AI” only half the time now for “Artificial Insemination”.

My Glock system went rogue and issued 9mm agents which accessed the internal organs of several victims. Please give me billions of dollars to help me regulate the behavior of the gun whose trigger I keep pulling.

My advice against purchasing no longer limited to Shark model (also subject of a recall that manufacturer or dealer are yet to contact me about)- BYD is not a trustworthy brand. They could fix 90% of their problems w/a team of five programmers/ document writers including two native English speakers.

Another ’upgrade’ failure which has altered yet more behaviour. Vehicle now fucks with my EVSE, repeatedly and rapidly switching it on and off while displaying “Connecting. Please wait.” On top of this morning’s ABC reporting on absent security, hacking ease - BYD’s reputation is shot.

Need some explanation for those comparisons to make any sense. ‘kg of waste per kWh (storage) capacity’ ?!? An electrochemical battery keeps the same mass for its lifetime. Fossil fuel is literally burnt up as it’s used.

“Date captured” remains correct, but delayed images are jumbled in “Recently Added” order.

Only noticed this when behaviour changed again, not allowing capture at all. Restarted phone, and missing photos/screenshots appeared one by one (including recent, increasingly frustrated repeats).

Can the #ACCC help? or does the Australian Government need to impose yet more regulations on tech companies? We need a ‘right to revert’. If I buy a car, then 12 months later the company shouldn’t be able to remotely update software to block features (except perhaps for acknowledged safety concerns)

I waited more than a fortnight to install this ‘upgrade’, and yet it still has previous-feature-killing bugs. Maybe #BYD doesn’t care about #BYDShark owners because that model isn’t sold in the PRC?

𓅃 @whisperfist.bsky.social · 19/09/2026
And because I forgot to note it in their recent feedback solicitation (bad survey)… I still get asked about the #BYDShark almost every week. I mention a couple of good features, then list complaints and faults until the questioner has had enough. I have now prevented at least three sales.

Perhaps only relevant to #BYDShark #BYD. And yep, really is a ‘Rage Mode’ that has been added :-/ Still the most useless of change logs. New screens with consistently bad layout, etc. Has shown it absolutely needs an option to roll-back to a prior (semi-)working software version.

Yet another #BYDFail. Do not attempt to upgrade to software v2.2.1 Mine has failed multiple times. Some changes have been made, including breaking Vehicle to Load, which I rely on daily. Claims both to have been upgraded, that upgrade has failed/ is available, that I should contact service centre.

‘Glitching’ reference reminds me of Ms then-13yo who in 2014 couldn’t recall the term ‘heat mirage’, so spoke about ‘when objects in the distance don’t render properly’.

Cumulative days worth of existence spent reading various ‘Terms and Conditions’ (hyper-)documents has yielded no perceptible benefit to me. Unlike, e.g. manual coffee grinding, which may have caused noticeable joint wear, but has provided useful time for contemplation.

Also, the media system can interfere with outside camera processing - e.g. reversing camera dropping from smooth video to laggy + <5fps. So, #BYD ships vehicles liable to all sorts of RF attacks. ‘Collision avoidance’ already has an unsafe number of false +ves, glitching it more -> easy accident.

I bristled at hearing media reports that today’s AusAlert test message would be received by “*all* mobiles” - surely that’s why a *test* was being held - but did expect most models less than a decade old would receive it. I’ve just learned from Wikipedia that Wolfgang Egger is supposedly a real person! I’d assumed from BYD’s lousy design (including driver side charging port) that it was name of an AI, committee, or Alan Smithee-like pseudonym.

Even as the ABC ‘accidentally’ bulk-emailed account-holders’ information, they were still airing Charlie Pickering smugly telling us iview IDs/viewing history were completely safe and confidential, also omitting that even ‘opting out’ would not stop sharing with overseas 3rd parties.

Another #BYDFail yesterday - the FM radio encountered some static and glitched the whole ‘media system’ into being silent and unable to change stations until a vehicle power-cycle. I wonder what other vehicle systems are susceptible. It’s already the worst radio interface I’ve ever encountered.

I should have used the excuse to post this photo again:
A very good tri-colour merle dog lies on his side, next to a front right wheel with two-toned tire, light blue rim, chromed hubcap displaying dark blue Chevrolet chevron. Dog has open eyes, erect ears, slightly open mouth, and front legs almost crossed.

‘80s: Taking a group of friends for a day trip to beach, my first drive of grandfather’s ‘51 Chev: would sometimes stick between gears, had to stop, open hood, jiggle mechanism - that time in middle of city intersection. Luckily a <15sec procedure. Still happens.
