Sweet, another NFG here in Whetstone Leics. Clancy's Rustic also new to me completely, albeit one I was expecting. I wasn't expecting Deep-brown Dart, the first here since 2000. Orange Sallow always nice to see, and a cracker amongst x6 Vestals. #teammoth #vc55moths

Feels faintly ridiculous to say that Delicate, new to my Whetstone Leics. garden trap last night, was actually an overdue and expected arrival. It is almost certainly resident here in Leics. now, like so many other recent colonists. #vc55moths #teammoth

Not so long ago Polistichus connexus was considered to be a rare beetle in the UK. Not sure when this started to change, but it seems to be on the move and turning up in moth traps further north and inland. New to VC55 this year, I've had x3 this week. #coleoptera #mothtrapintruders #beetles #vc55

My Whetstone garden trap avoided Small Mottled Willow from 1999 to 2024, before one finally turned up here in 2025. One record, of one individual, in 27 years. During 2026 I have many records of multiple individuals, fewer than other recorders but still enough to be laughable. #vc55moths #teammoth

Not had too much to get excited about in my garden trap for a good week or so, and last night was very windy so no great expectations. Surprised to find a box-fresh Bordered Straw, along with x7 Dewick's Plusia, a European Corn-borer and a few Scrobipalpa ocellatella. #vc55moths #teammoth

@vc28wildlife.bsky.social Just in case I missed anything, is there any updated clarity on the supposed host plant difference between saligna and asiatica? Have any saligna been confirmed from crack/white/weeping willow?
