My hope in adding EXIF settings is that it might inspire people with a starting point to conduct their own experiments, so I guess that's helpful to know that it might be useful to help those who are new to photography.

I’ve entered the LCE Photographer of the Year 2025 with a night sky photo I shot in Canada for the "After Dark" category. 🌌✨ There's a "People's Choice" award too - I'd be so grateful for your vote! 🙇🙏 Vote 🗳️ here: poty.lcegroup.co.uk/contest/poty.... Voting ends 28 January 2025.

Hi guys, if you happen to have #Instagram, would you mind watching this reel to the end and interacting with it please? IG's AI thinks I am making content for fake followers, and I'm in IG jail now. So I need them to know real people are interacting with my stuff. www.instagram.com/p/DFA1ER_N2R4/

This is the problem with too many platforms and having some people you connect with on all of them lol.

I guess just looking at it from the outside in the UK, it just looks dodgy af. And I would say the same about any president pardoning any of their own relatives. It's just nepotism.

Is there a genuine chance of Trump "exacting revenge"? Is the state of the rule of law in the US going to be that fragile? I mean you'll still have independence of the judiciary and appeals if things look unfair, right? Or do you think I'm being a ignorant non-US person and being too optimistic?

I asked this because I genuinely want to know the background behind why this is good. Hopefully someone can explain it in baby terms as we probably have a different narrative on this from "across the pond" and I want to know more about this from your "on the ground" view. bsky.app/profile/wher...

Literally just looks like corrupt nepotism. Certainly the commentary we are getting here seems to also suggest this is going to cause issues for the Dems. And rightfully so if it is merely nepotism. But I'm sure there are people who know more... so help me understand this plz.

Genuine qu, not trying to troll. Also remember I'm from UK and not US so may be getting a different take. But why is Biden pardoning his son good? Wasn't there actual evidence of wrong doing, even if it being brought to light was for politics? I mean it's very different to just making up charges.

Haha I wouldn't necessarily pay too much attention to "influencers" lol. For example, the hype about the X100V and X100VI is just that having shot with the X100VI which I got on release. Got a refund for it because it was defective straight out of the box luckily.

I do love the X-T2. One camera I probably really regret getting rid of, but lenses for XF was annoyingly not that numerous when I sold. Glad to see more XF options coming in now though.

I just saw this post of yours, but oh gosh, I have so many from when I was covering the protests taking place in the UK in support of the 2019 pro-democracy protests in Hong Kong.

I've seen those user-made feeds too, but that means a user will actually have to put me on those lists manually. So unless someone does that, it seems my posts are just going into some kind of black hole.

Howard Cheng @wherehowardgoes.bsky.social · 24/11/2024
Really? How does that work though because there's a "discover" tab in the home section of this site which sits alongside "following". Whilst I think "following" is literally a feed of those you choose to follow, "there must be some kind of algorithm in the "discover" tab, right?

Again, this reminds me of why I just got put off Bluesky from when I first joined when it was invite only. It feels like there is quite a lack of "community" here.

Howard Cheng @wherehowardgoes.bsky.social · 24/11/2024
Does anyone on Bluesky actually know what the #algorithm is? I have a steady stream of followers, but they seem to just follow and that's it. I've generally asked questions like the one quoted and I only have one person that I know liking it, and no replies and no answers. bsky.app/profile/wher...

Kind of feel like I want some lighter gear to travel with that gives me reach beyond my Q3's 28 mm fixed lens.

Question for #photography peeps on here. Anyone have experience with shooting both #FullFrame and #MFT / #M43? I know in theory, ignoring DOF, the same exposure settings with higher ISO is likely to have more noise, but want to know about whether it is noticeable for real world shooting / viewing.

Get the feeling this is just as bad as X, but on the other end of the political spectrum? There's vitriol and abusive language on here directed at those who voted Trump, calling them cockroaches. Political disagreements are expected, but dehumanising language is the beginning of something worse.

I figured if London is getting over 90%, that's pretty good. Granted I'm not going to get that full totality effect, but still, I should be able to get some nice photos with familiar landmarks.

Howard Cheng @wherehowardgoes.bsky.social · 22/11/2024
One cosmic event I'm looking. Forward to now is the 2026 eclipse. We should be seeing over 90% coverage in London. Thinking about whether I want to travel to Spain to see if I can see totality, but all the uncertainty about eclipses do put me off from specifically travelling for it.

A3 was such a brilliant comet to observe. What a shame though that S1 disintegrated as that could have been even more glorious!

Didn't some pro-Beijing person comment when they got destroyed during a district council election that the pro-Beijing camp lost because the elections were politicised? I mean, if you complain that elections are political, the writing is defo on the wall for any opposition.

Howard Cheng @wherehowardgoes.bsky.social · 20/11/2024
Yeah I agree. I feel the same kind of energy from people on here, except on the other end of the spectrum. That's why I'm already mainly using Mastodon and have bridged my Mastodon account to here so I can just watch from afar lol.

Is that where I think it is? It just doesn't quite look as good as when it was Kai Tak International Airport. Image a screenshot I took in Microsoft Flight Simulator - one of my favourite places to land!

But then this means this is just going to be an echo chamber too, but the other end of the spectrum. Neither is good.

I dunno. I have had it since it started and feel entirely the same way. People over on Mastodon just feel so much more willing to chat and have a conversation, if you know what I mean. It feels so much more human back on Mastodon.
