Anyway this is out now in celebration of AO3 being back early!! My fic for @whenhenry-metalex.bsky.social, though it’s less romcom and more romangst 🤭 🔗 archiveofourown.org/works/71168426

Screenshot of a fic on AO3. Fic title is May the Best Man Win by claremontdiazfox. Fic summary:

“Henry looks a little nervous. "I actually have something to tell you."

"Okay," Alex says slowly, starting to smile at how cute Henry is when he's all furtive and bashful. As casual as he can, he adds, "I have something to tell you, too. But you go first."

Henry's eyes meet Alex's. The unpredictable British summer has done him good: freckles scattered across the bridge of his nose, his blond hair catching highlights, a healthy glow to his skin.

"Well," Henry says, drawing in a deep breath, "I've met someone." Alex blinks. "And — God, I know this is utterly barmy, but — I'm getting married."”

Alex is best man at Henry's wedding. (Vaguely inspired by Made of Honor.)

Excerpt from May the Best Man Win by claremontdiazfox on AO3. “Henry nods. "Yeah. I —" he breaks off, looking a little nervous, and focuses on the menu. "I actually have something to tell you. But, er, pick your food first."

"Okay," Alex says slowly, starting to smile at how cute Henry is when he's all furtive and bashful. He takes a minute to scan the menu and choose what he wants before adding, as casual as he can, "I have something to tell you, too."

Henry's head snaps up, his blue eyes meeting Alex's. The unpredictable British summer has done him good: freckles scattered across the bridge of his nose, his blond hair catching highlights, a healthy glow to his skin.

"Really?" he asks. "Well, you first."

Alex shakes his head. "No, you go," he says, gesturing for Henry to speak.

"Alright," Henry says, drawing in a deep breath. "Well. I've met someone." Alex blinks. "And — God, I know this is utterly barmy, but — I'm getting married."

The breath is sucker-punched out of Alex. He feels like he's just been shoved into an ice bath.

"What?" he croaks.”
