So both Google and Apple follow whatever a particular government that has sovereignty decides to name a place. Trump made the US GNIS change the name. So in the US, it's Lake America. Because the lake has a border in the middle of it, outside the US they can give it both the CA and US names.

It's already happening rapidly in the rest of the world. Norway is no longer buying ICE cars. In Australia, EV's are currently 18% of the monthly sales, increasing from last year, especially after the start of the war in the Gulf. Growth is 157% YoY. evdbau.com/market-stats

This makes Idi Amin sound sane. This is not powerful, it's the weakest statement by a US President I've ever read. It's bluster, it's defeatist. He's gone from regime change, to obliterating their military, to stopping their missiles, to openly begging them to open the Strait of Hormuz. Pathetic.
Post on Truth Social by Donald Trump: "Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! Open the Fuckin’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell - JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah. President DONALD J. TRUMP"

The question behind the headline. It seems like a self-perpetuating ecosystem. People compete to get into competitions so that they can compete. Someone is grifting on the money being generated. Guess who used to own it? The orange sleaze. Owned by a Thai company now.

The news report is the opposite. The girl wants a termination & her mother & the 13 year old father agree. But the hospital was concerned that a) parent can't give permission for the termination, & b) they weren't sure whether the girl had the capacity to do so. www.abc.net.au/news/2025-07...
A Queensland court has granted permission for a pregnant 12-year-old girl to have a surgical abortion.

An unnamed hospital applied to the Supreme Court for orders after being asked to perform a surgical termination for the child, referred to as "E", who was about nine weeks pregnant.

In a decision from mid-June, published online on Wednesday, Justice Catherine Muir said the girl wanted to terminate her pregnancy, and her mother was supportive, but under the law, "a parent cannot consent to the termination on behalf" of her.

"The hospital seeks orders from the court in its parens patriae jurisdiction to authorise the termination," Justice Muir said.

"These orders were sought because hospital staff are concerned the girl lacks capacity to consent to the termination herself.

You might have noticed that CBS has cancelled Steven Colbert's Late Show and has nobbled 60 minutes. Here's the reasons why: CBS is owned by Paramount Global en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CBS /1
CBS Broadcasting Inc., commonly shorted to CBS (an abbreviation of its original name, Columbia Broadcasting System), is an American commercial broadcast television and radio network serving as the flagship property of the CBS Entertainment Group division of Paramount Global and is one of the company's three flagship subsidiaries, along with namesake Paramount Pictures and MTV.

That description of "practical kitchen with stainless steel appliances" is the most pathetic I've ever seen for something like this. But maybe it's likely that whoever buys it is going to knock it down and rebuild. I mean, it'd be worth it, for the sort of people that buy houses like this.
Quote from house ad: the important point being "that leads into a practical kitchen with stainless steel appliances."

All the seats on the AEC website say "undefined" because the AEC has not declared *ANY* seat until the count is completed, which is when all postals have been received and counted. The deadline is the end of the day tomorrow (16 May) being 13 days after election day.
Text from AEC:
"When should I return my postal vote?

You must complete and mark or sign your postal vote by 6pm on election day. Your ballot papers must be received by the AEC no later than 13 days after election day for your vote to count."

There's still 1380 votes to count, so it's more a wait and see, then if there's a gap of less than 100, I think the AEC will decide to do a recount. www.aec.gov.au/voting/count...
Does the AEC have to run a re-count?

At any point before the AEC officially declares the result in a seat, a candidate can make a request to that Division’s Returning Officer for a full recount of every ballot paper. The candidate is required to provide reasons for the request, and it’s the responsibility of the Returning Officer to approve or decline that request.

If a Returning Officer declines a request for a recount, candidates sometimes appeal the decision to the Electoral Commissioner.

The AEC can also conduct a recount of votes independently. While there is no law for when this activity occurs, the AEC often conducts a recount for a seat if the final margin is within a hundred votes.

Time for US journals to contact Private Eye in the UK and ask them about "We refer you to the reply given in the case of Arkell v. Pressdram" as a perfect response.
The magazine's response was, in full: "We acknowledge your letter of 29th April referring to Mr J Arkell. We note that Mr Arkell's attitude to damages will be governed by the nature of our reply and would therefore be grateful if you would inform us what his attitude to damages would be, were he to learn that the nature of our reply is as follows: fuck off.
