Been playing Megaman ZX Advent through the series collection, and I noticed that the sprites for the models are pretty sloppy edits of the ones from ZX It's surprisingly messy considering the series high quality sprites, and I'm confused at how this wasn't noticed back then or fixed in the port

Last year, you might recall that Redd, the lead artist on Ribbit, set up a donation fund to recover from the financial bankruptcy that their mom caused. The fund succeeded, and Redd tried to make things work from there, but words can't be minced anymore.

Redd's mother is a vile person who hurt them, drove them to suicidal thoughts, drove away their partner, and I'm just all fucking manner of livid, having been told all this in person. They don't deserve this, they have so much passionate, creative blood in them, such a strange and fascinating mind that inspires me with every conversation we have, and I've just been unable to do anything but watch it all get drained of sleep and life, it fucking sucks.

We hate to have to do this again, but this time around, our goal is to get Redd out of that house, and to never look back. I want my friend to be saved. Please help make this happen in any way you can.

I decided to look into all of this after hearing a scond opinion I'll admit I really don't care to watch a movie just for context on discourse but even a little research was worthwhile (also this says one of the writers/directors is cis but they're nb) www.reddit.com/r/actuallesb...

A reddit post in r/actuallesbians from u/Mindless_Craft_1413 titled :Watched "lesbian Space Princess" with my (trans) wife

So I watched the film with my (trans) wife and we had a good time and then I came on reddit to see what other people thought and lots of people were like "it's a TERF movie!".

I'm actually kind of upset because it feels like this indie queer movie is getting portrayed by a lot of people as something it's not and I want to see more indie and queer films (especially ones with so many people of colour involved). I'm worried that this backlash will scare people off similarly themed projects in the future.

It's okay to not like movies, it's okay to criticise films for problematic stuff but some of the stuff hurled at the people who made the movie is not okay and I also read commentary on reddit criticising things that were not even in the movie.

I understand the optics of having being a black drag queen as a villian doesn't come across well in isolation BUT the protagonist and the two love interests are all people of colour voice acted by people who aren't white. I feel like a lot of people missed Willow being a person of colour because they have light skin but the director has said all the three of the leads are people of colour. Willow is also voiced by a non Binary Asian person, Gemma Chua-Tran.

Honestly, I actually kind of like the idea of a campy drag queen villian. I'm not saying the character was perfectly well executed but I don't think it's as cut and dry as others are making it.

One of the protagonist's mothers is a trans woman or at least is voiced by a Australian comedian (and trans woman) Jordan Raskopoulos. Side note: She's amazing. This is not addressed , she is treated no differently to the other lesbians in the film. Yes, the mother is not a great person but basically noone in the film really is except maybe Willow?

The initial love interest, Kiki may also be a trans woman but I'm not sure on the actual intent there. She was often portrayed with trans flags around her a few times so I thought she was maybe trans coded when she first appeared but that's not definitive. Again she is not a good person but she is portrayed as hot and desirable.

People also found the place where the protagonist lives as transphobic because of the name of the lesbian city is "Clitopia" but Clitopia is not portrayed as a perfect lesbian utopia. The residents are clearly obsessed with coupling and are cruel to the protagonist.

Yes, I'll concede the bad stuff at the end features things with penis imagery but it's the Malien's territory and they are meant to be unwoke male characters who would not in fact be nuanced about the portrayal of gender. So to me contextually it somewhat makes sense but yeah, I didn't find that part good or funny.

The two directors are cis women and yes, perhaps lacked some nuance and goofed up. Totally valid but people were saying stuff like Blade, the drag queen's motivation was to steal Saira (protagonist's) feminity ... when the film explicitly states Blade is just really obsessed with weapons (which is why she wants the labrys) and her parents were actually supportive of drag.

You can criticise the film's problematic stuff but don't fabricate storylines like "The drag queen was trying to steal the young girl's feminity " , stick to facts and please don't completely write off the actors and writers involved as being racist TERFs.

Intention doesn't make up for everything, I know... but I really don't think the writers are racists or TERFS.

I hope they can learn from the project and go on to make more queer content. I was kind of excited to see an Aussie queer film especially one with Jordan in it. If you have reccomendations let me know for good queer films (bonus points for Aussie content!).
