The situation with FurAffinity is pretty amazing. Advertisers threatened their advertising revenue because they considered Plus Sized characters and characters HUGGING to be adult content. So FA said fuck off, and in two days raised their entire yearly funding. Advertisers are so bullshit stupid.

The Déjà vu is constant and it annoys me. The new stuff they did add such as the sky and the depths and the zonai devices, are a mile wide but skin deep for the former two, and un engaging for the latter. Especially once you learn of the hover bike, invalidating nearly every other vehicle.

All in all. My biggest disappointment with tears of the kingdom is it’s just breath of the wild but more. And it’s annoying on how deeply derivative it is. Repeating the same structure in story, Maine questline structure, same shrine structure, same crappy side quests, same music minimalism.

They continue the memory cutscenes like in botw, but it doesn’t work, because the memories in botw was used to clarify on what happened since we already know the end results and the Zelda and the champions we’re charming. Here, they try to set up a myster that is so easy to spoil due the non linear-

Story is also un memorable. Either than Zelda and maybe ganondorf, none of the characters leave that much of lasting impression. The ages from the last game literally have so little to work with, that they just repeat on what they already know, leaving such stagnant progression

Shrines themselves are also bad. It’s so easy to cheat and break through them, missing out on any interesting puzzles they could bring because again, you can just skip them. It also doesn’t help over a third of the shrines have nothing on them other than treasure. Yes a third are just only filler.

The sky is visually pretty, but overly dull. Either than the great sky island, NONE of them are no where near as big as it, where the next largest is only a fraction of the size. Most are just reused archipelagos with same damn puzzles of bring one crystal to a shrine. It’s so boring.

Enemy variety, while a bit better than in botw is still pretty poor. You’re still fighting bokoblins, moblins, and lizalfos most of the time. And the new ones are either in specific places, or are just recolered of the same enemy type. No poes, redeads, leevers, peahats, dark nuts, deku, babas etc.

But here, ALL of them are activated in the same one button, meaning there is a constant tendency to pick the wrong one at the moment, which doesn’t help the fact that sages constantly move around meaning it’s annoying trying to activate or cancel an ability.

Echoes of wisdom added a favorites option in an update, so why hasn’t’ tears of the kingdom gotten one yet? It’s so annoying having to constantly do it the entire game. The special abilities suck. In breath of the wild, each sage ability only actives in certain button prompts.

The UI sucks. Having to constantly pause and unpause to fuse and weapons and arrows is such a pace breaker. And I could probably tolerate if the quick select wasn’t one singular line, meaning it takes too long to reach on side to the other looking for the material I need.

Caves are fun the first time, but after the sixth one, they all just started blending in repetition, fighting the same enemies, seeing the same visual style. It’s such a chore. Wells are even worse since they are literally just caves, but smaller and having nothing in them.

They didn’t fix the side quests which was already crappy in the previous game. The writing is dull, the npcs are either bland and/or annoying, and the reward were mostly dog shit. It came to the point where I didn’t do the major of the quests because I couldn’t bother.

The fire temple is big but empty, just a chore to travel through. The wind temple left literally no impression on me aside from the boss (even then solely on its music). And the water temple is the worst dungeons I’ve played over ever played, I beaten in literally 15 minutes. What a letdown.

The lightning temple is fantastic, and the endgame final boss is so much better than breath of the wild. Visuals and lighting is gorgeous especially the sunset in the sky islands, so beautiful. And uhhh yeah, that’s all the positives. So let’s get into why this game really disappointed me.

Music, when there are available is really great, dare I say better than breath of the wild. Fusing as a concept is pretty fun, seeing weak weapons merge with strong materials and satisfying numbers going is up is great. Same with arrow fusions. Gleeok is the best mini boss, fun yet challenging.

That said I do agree that there is literally nothing interesting to find in the depths, since 90% on what you do is exactly what I typed above the last 10% is finding one decent and one terrible dungeon, recycled mini and dungeon bosses, recycled armor and weapons, and short yiga quest.

For the positives. Despite how most people feel, I surprisingly enjoyed the depths. I can’t fully tell you why, but I just the enjoy the repetition of activating a light root and grinding for zonaites, it just feels nice, especially as the map fills in and your field of vision expands from the light

I know it’s obvious that once you know the game works, you get better at it. But Metroid dread is just something else, you greatly feel the improvements on your playstyle. Die a lot from the emmis and bosses, each replay through I die far less, and beat each area faster than the last.
