why that last point? well, when saki outright lies, she tends to have her face completely obscured.

and when uika tries to turn it back on sakiko, asking about crychic, she much more firmly rebuffs her. and then we see a lone water lily. where she thought trust went both ways, she now sees that it's one-sided. and her disappointment is palpable.

sakiko's little giggle feels fake since we don't get to see her face as she does it. and i think it is. the water lily isn't shown because sakiko won't rely on uika for support even as uika blatantly yearns for connection. she's uncomfortable with her love, so she turns the conversation back on uika

but when uika shares how much she values her support, sakiko's unsettled by it. uika looks at her with such adoration, but sakiko's reaction is hidden out-of-frame by the camera tilting down to the pond. notably, we know there's a lone water lily in this area, but that's been left out-of-frame too.

i think this ties in with sakiko and water lilies. the pink water lilies symbolize trust and reliance in someone. going back to episode 8, notice how these two walk onto the bridge from the right side, moving in the direction of the pair of water lillies.

between these two stills, the lights flicker, and saki simply disappears during one of the dark moments. yet, uika falls to her knees, out of frame, and she's not seen again until the very end where she has her mask on just before we see it land on the floor.
