A little catch up since I haven’t been here in a while. I went to the Netherlands to watch F1 this summer. 10/10. I ran the Chicago Marathon. Also 10/10 (other that having to travel to the bad place). We got another chihuahua. This is Cupcake.

First time doing the Sun Run. 50000 people this year. It's the largest 10k in Canada and third largest in North America. Pure chaos.

Someone decided that a touch screen and capacitive buttons on a flat glass surface at the front of an oven was a good idea. This person should be in prison.

A black glass cooktop on a Whirlpool oven. The controls for the oven are touch capacitive buttons and a touch screen. These react to liquid and being wiped during cleaning/cooking. Possibly the worst user interface I've ever seen.

The Sea Raft aka By-the-Wind Sailor aka Velella velella. This is pretty far north to find these little weirdos...

The Sea Raft is deep blue in colour, but their most obvious feature is a small stiff sail that catches the wind and propels them over the surface of the sea.

Velella is a monospecific genus of hydrozoa in the Porpitidae family. Its only known species is Velella velella,[2] a cosmopolitan (widely distributed) free-floating hydrozoan that lives on the surface of the open ocean. It is commonly known by the names sea raft, by-the-wind sailor, purple sail, little sail, or simply Velella.

Three years of this gorgeous Stellar’s Jay coming to visit us when we’re in Ucluelet. It taps its beak on the railing outside to let us know it’s here. I’ve never seen another one do this. Even at home where we have a whole crew that visits us.

I love small town Vancouver Island Co-op stores. This is a decent quality non stick frying pan. Thick base. Riveted handle. It was $33🇨🇦. Our cabin is very well stocked but only has stainless steel pans. I'll be making pancakes with this and then bringing it home with me.

At that point you might as well take an Uber. This is downtown to YVR right now. Most people, myself included, would pay a little more for a private ride into town. If the train is $15 there's little incentive to use it. Even at $10, it's a tough choice.

For the first time in a few years I’m skipping the Indycar race in Portland because America. I’m pretty bummed, but I’ve found some Canadian alternative races to photograph. I’m heading to Area 27 in Oliver for the first time. It looks incredible.
