Erik Funder @weuts.bsky.social · 30/09/2026"All I wish for, is to be the kind of dad where I go, the kind of dad I never had, where, when I come home, like when a door opens or closes, my kid doesn't have to turn off the TV, or doesn't have to like act like they're sleeping, or doesn't have to ...does that make sense?" - Trevor Noahyoutu.beJimmy Carr: Convenience is Stealing Your LifeYouTube video by Trevor Noah 000
Erik Funder @weuts.bsky.social · 17/09/2026The performance, the battery life, the active cooling practicality never having to work, the suspend working perfectly, the hybernation when otherwise outbid battery. It’s really a nice package - hope framework (or anyone) will get there 120
Erik Funder @weuts.bsky.social · 11/09/2026“You’re the one putting people out of jobs” ..but is _so much work_ we want done. Job loss from productivity improvement frees us up to take care of each other or move on to the next big problem! We as a society have to choose to do that. 011
Erik Funder @weuts.bsky.social · 11/09/2026“What then?” Idk, I continue? If I ever get done automating all of the things (impossible in my lifetime, but), idk, I’ll go be a farmer or run a coffee shop or something. If I cause society that much productivity I won. I did more than enough. 100
Erik Funder @weuts.bsky.social · 11/09/2026“What are you going to do if you automate all of the things?” Work on other stuff, maybe get fired, but I think it looks banger in a CV if I can describe how I made myself unnecessary 100
Erik Funder @weuts.bsky.social · 11/09/2026I like agents more and more: I can automate so many things. I’ve spent two weeks on some spicy merges, and next time I think agents can do 98% of the work 👌 100
Erik Funder @weuts.bsky.social · 05/09/2026@ersc.io please, I really want to be able to push conflicts such I can move work between machines without having to carry all of .git/.jj 000

Erik Funder @weuts.bsky.social · 12/03/2025I am confused 😅 talking about functional programming here? 110
Erik Funder @weuts.bsky.social · 10/03/2025I am looking forward to the recording of this 😊 - 1am CET is sadly not going to work for catching it live 😌 130
Erik Funder @weuts.bsky.social · 24/02/2025I’m not sure it’s supposed to do that 😂😅 No, but really, I’m impressed, confused and curious about how different terminal emulators are going to handle it 🤔 010
Erik Funder @weuts.bsky.social · 18/02/2025I have never heard this before, but good analogy and good reading. Thanks 😊 000
Erik Funder @weuts.bsky.social · 14/02/2025Amazon doesn’t really operate where I am, but am trying to avoid buying morally questionable stuff e.g. IKEA furniture and fast fashion 010
Erik Funder @weuts.bsky.social · 14/02/2025That should ideally get _better_ with more MIR optimizations and cranelift backend, but yeah.. 000
Erik Funder @weuts.bsky.social · 13/02/2025Thanks for pointing me in the direction, it’s a nice Thursday night activity scrolling through their posts 😊 010
Erik Funder @weuts.bsky.social · 20/12/2024I couldn’t agree more - I find Gos ethos quite perplexing, but this somehow matches my intuition about it 😅 020
Erik Funder @weuts.bsky.social · 20/12/2024I would love to pay a few dollars for reading this, but I’m not gonna start a subscription I’ll have to cancel 😮💨 110
Erik Funder @weuts.bsky.social · 05/12/2024Is it a MacOS or Zed thing that Zed just correctly picked up on me using ‘mv’ to rename the project folder behind its back? 000
Erik Funder @weuts.bsky.social · 01/12/2024Oh boy I appreciate quick editor startup - thanks @zed.dev 020
Erik Funder @weuts.bsky.social · 30/11/2024Yes, thanks, have played with Haskell before, but probably not enough. The rest I don’t think I’ve written at all - this is perfect 😊 020
Erik Funder @weuts.bsky.social · 29/11/2024And cargo only strips release binaries - ‘cargo build —release’ and there’ll be a binary in the target/release directory 020
Erik Funder @weuts.bsky.social · 29/11/2024Oh, it’s cargo which does binary stripping automatically - if you run strip on the binary it goes from 3.7MiB to .35MiB. If you want it smaller (enough for small micro controllers) you’ll have to drop the standard library - but that’s suddenly a lot more painful 220
Erik Funder @weuts.bsky.social · 29/11/2024While it is, it is tiny, the problem used to be the standard library being statically linked, but I remember they began stripping the binary automatically, so I’m unsure why you are still seeing big binaries - I’ll be back once I’ve reproduced 😁 120
Erik Funder @weuts.bsky.social · 29/11/2024While I haven’t written it much, I’m very familiar 😅. It’s very neat you don’t need more for a Turing complete language, but I think it’s probably a better exercise to use it as a compile target, rather than writing it yourself.. Thanks for the suggestion though 😊 000
Erik Funder @weuts.bsky.social · 29/11/2024Other than not having bothered to debug why their systemd daemon takes until it times out after 1:30 minutes to shut down when I turn off my system I’m mostly avoiding it because I don’t understand it well - I guess I should work on that 110
Erik Funder @weuts.bsky.social · 28/11/2024Yes - to be fair to Discord they expect the client to be self updating, but when used together with a package manager it is quite a pain 110

Erik Funder @weuts.bsky.social · 28/11/2024The part of the rust compiler which figures out what trait a given method call corresponds to, is flawed and hard to extend. People are working on making a new and better one, allowing new features, and fixing old soundness holes, but it doesn’t work in all situations yet. 160
Erik Funder @weuts.bsky.social · 23/11/2024Fair, then I pity anyone who has pair programmed with you 😁 010
Erik Funder @weuts.bsky.social · 23/11/2024Nothing filthy about that - will never hate on someone for writing a particular programming language - just may not be a fan myself 😁😌 031
Erik Funder @weuts.bsky.social · 23/11/2024I don’t know if that can be solved by the intro chapter hinting more to how jjs unifying look at the world is very simplifying, but when going straight to action, I as a reader don’t have much opportunity to realize that for myself 000
Erik Funder @weuts.bsky.social · 23/11/2024This is great for sending to someone when I have the social capital to “make” them try jj, and/or have already convinced them it is worthwhile, but does very little to argue that jj is worth trying. 100
Erik Funder @weuts.bsky.social · 21/11/2024Uh, that’s a throwback 😅. I remember looking at it when Google still considered making it the second browser language, but both it and I have probably developed enough that I should take a fresh look. Thanks! 😊 010
