Josh W @wetjosh.bsky.social · 03/11/2025Man LA has so many good Japanese players! Do you think it helps though that they’re on the west coast (closer to home)? I mean probably money and winning speaks louder than location but I think it probably might be a littler factor. 000
Josh W @wetjosh.bsky.social · 03/11/2025We actually went to LA in Sept for a little vacation and while we were there the Giants happened to be in town so we bought tickets and Yamamoto happened to be the starting pitcher. Tbh I didn’t even know who he was! But we have not been following baseball as much lately 110
Josh W @wetjosh.bsky.social · 02/11/2025@srgower.com I’m sorry man. I was rooting for ya. Kirk hacked at that first pitch and I didn’t have a good feeling about it. 210
Josh W @wetjosh.bsky.social · 28/06/2025Dude those are awesome! I especially love that seductive ladybot on the Robots of Dawn 😆 I sort of remember the plot point. I never read that 4th one though: Robots and Empire. 110
Josh W @wetjosh.bsky.social · 11/05/2025Finished the kitchen table (which I had dragged out to a 5 month ordeal, though I finished a few other projects in between including a router table and office cubby). Today we go chair shopping. Followed DKBuilds plans youtu.be/btPGtq0hYTE?si=zf1caK4OI5e…. #woodworking 2120
Josh W @wetjosh.bsky.social · 29/04/2025@glass.photo what’s the deal with having to back out of a photo to see the next in a feed? I’m guessing this was a conscious decision. Genuinely curious why I can’t just swipe right or left to see the next full screen photo. Absolutely love the app btw! 010
Josh W @wetjosh.bsky.social · 28/04/2025Look man, this ain’t no Veritas saw I have. Just some brand I’ve never heard of on Amazon. For all I know the company that made it just copied some other brand’s saw or maybe just made the saw based on a picture of a flush cut saw. Anyway, I tried bending the teeth. Didn’t work. Tape will have to do 000
Josh W @wetjosh.bsky.social · 28/04/2025I want to believe you are right about this. But this particular one I have is not like that. I don’t think my other one (which lives permanently behind the counter in my shop where I can’t reach) was like that either. I think it had zero set and sucked at cutting but at least didn’t scratch 100
Josh W @wetjosh.bsky.social · 27/04/2025Well, or you could just buy drill bits with a countersink collar. 000
Josh W @wetjosh.bsky.social · 26/04/2025Jogged the Big Sur Shakeout 5k this morning. This is the free 5k before the real marathon tomorrow. I guess they use it to shake their legs out. I will be doing it again next year. It was fun! 🏃♂️ #jogging #BigSur 020
Josh W @wetjosh.bsky.social · 26/04/2025I used a drill press for the pilot holes on the braces then extended them into the walnut with a hand drill. The countersinks were impossible to drill at much of an angle 110
Josh W @wetjosh.bsky.social · 26/04/2025Btw, I’m following plans. Thought you should know, none of this came from my mind 😆 youtu.be/btPGtq0hYTE?...youtu.beBuilding a Shaker Walnut Dining TableYouTube video by dk builds 010
Josh W @wetjosh.bsky.social · 26/04/2025Only like 1/16th. It worked perfectly. The very slightly tapered end of the dowel allows it to wedge in. The dowels are poplar, so I’ll bet they deformed a bit but they’re locked in good. Plus there’s glue. 110
Josh W @wetjosh.bsky.social · 26/04/2025Ah gotcha. I definitely plan on using dowels in mortises in the future again. I love the look, they feel good hammering in, and like I mentioned they also provide some function 😀 120
Josh W @wetjosh.bsky.social · 26/04/2025I thought about trying to hammer them flat. I just figured it wouldn’t be that malleable. I’ll give it a try 010
Josh W @wetjosh.bsky.social · 26/04/2025I think your other question is asking about the diagonal pieces? It just makes it more rigid. But maybe that’s not needed once you put the table top on. Idk but it looks good having those light accent pieces 😆 110
Josh W @wetjosh.bsky.social · 26/04/2025I used glue but before glue was invented I guess this method was enough. 010
Josh W @wetjosh.bsky.social · 26/04/2025Legs are not removable. They are dowels - not hiding any screws. They are called drawbore mortise and tenons: the holes on the mortise are slightly offset with the holes on the tenon and the dowels are tapered on the end you can’t see. The idea is that when you hammer them in it make a tight fit 110
Josh W @wetjosh.bsky.social · 26/04/2025Idk man I don’t really see woodworking equipment. I don’t know what the long table is for. It has raise edges. And weird handle doohickies 🤷♂️ 000
Josh W @wetjosh.bsky.social · 26/04/2025Why thank you. Hammering in those dowels was one of the most pleasurable things I’ve done as a woodworker. 000
Josh W @wetjosh.bsky.social · 26/04/2025Not impressed with this flush cut saw at all. The teeth are not flush. Had to raise the surface by sticking tape on it. And while the teeth are sharp, it makes a pretty ragged cut. Makes me want to keep trying to fish out the better (and cheaper) one I lost behind the counter last year #woodworking 250
Josh W @wetjosh.bsky.social · 25/04/2025Table base glued up and finished ✅ First coat anyway #woodworking 1150
Josh W @wetjosh.bsky.social · 20/04/2025Awesome! I built a coffee table very similar to this. Nice work. What will the seat be made of? 110
Josh W @wetjosh.bsky.social · 18/04/2025I think woodworking requires my full attention. I do solve problems at work in my head though when I’m jogging 110
Josh W @wetjosh.bsky.social · 16/04/2025I thought that was a huge dog house at first. Didn’t see the vertical bar 🤣 Looks awesome 👏 110
Josh W @wetjosh.bsky.social · 14/04/2025For the record, my “like” goes to your sketch which I think is awesome. Boo AI 🤖 😆 010
Josh W @wetjosh.bsky.social · 13/04/2025Ok. I’ll have to check it out. I thought a subscription was required. Maybe it is for the iPad app which is where I would like to design but I wouldn’t use it enough to justify the cost. 010
Josh W @wetjosh.bsky.social · 13/04/2025Do you have a SketchUp subscription? If so, which one does a woodworker need? I was looking around at what is out there and was kind of disappointed in the options I found. 100
Josh W @wetjosh.bsky.social · 12/04/2025Crossmemeber detail which only I will ever know about #woodworking 2150
Josh W @wetjosh.bsky.social · 09/04/2025I love maple end grain but I hate working with maple. It always seems to have a lot of internal tension. At least the stuff I get. 110
Josh W @wetjosh.bsky.social · 09/04/2025I’m not completely certain it was because it was a rip blade. It may have just cut better because it’s less used and therefore sharper. 110
Josh W @wetjosh.bsky.social · 08/04/2025Need to watch this one. If not only to cleanse my memory of recently watching The Green Berets 010
Josh W @wetjosh.bsky.social · 08/04/2025Burned the hell outta the first leg on the first cut, then switched to my rip blade and the rest went much better. Was going to plane the legs after anyway 110
Josh W @wetjosh.bsky.social · 06/04/2025Just caught up cataloging all the books I’ve read. I have really good taste. Just sayin’ #books www.goodreads.com/review/list/...goodreads.comJoshua Wetenkamp’s 'read' books on Goodreads (184 books)Joshua Wetenkamp has 184 books on their read shelf: The Good Man Jesus and the Scoundrel Christ by Philip Pullman, Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut J... 010
Josh W @wetjosh.bsky.social · 06/04/2025Done. Added 34 books. Since I almost always take a picture at some point of the book I am reading, I found them all with their dates by searching “books” in Photos. I’m sure I missed some. 000
