A little Uncle Mo llama for your viewing pleasure. Weather is lining up to be mild this week. The logging is still going on next door (week four) so Mo is missing more regular access in the meadow, as are the other animals. But he loves his tall trees and slopes.

I’ve been enjoying some close encounters with birds lately. After the mystic barred owl showing itself a couple weeks ago, this Red Crossbill allowed me to scoop it out of Derek’s wood shop and help it to safety today.

Caught it again! The sunrise between the two peaks of the Sisters I can see when the weather is clear. I thought it would happen in October given that I last caught it in April, but hadn’t accounted for the Earth’s tilt and its elliptical orbit.

Me & Lamby this afternoon. He doesn’t like when I wear a brimmed hat & usually tries to knock it off my head so he can bury his nose in my ear. He is my original sheep puppy. I’m so lucky he was my 1st sheep. His sweet, calm, gentle demeanor set such a high bar for everyone else! I ❤️ his amber eyes.

It’s my husband Derek’s birthday today! The life I lead now would not be possible without him working so hard at his job! Glad he’s a couple years older than I am so I can see what I’m in for. Plus, he is much taller than I am and can reach everything on the top shelf.

Louis is enjoying a little time on the deck on a cloudy day and mild weather. Because of his myelopathy, he needs a lot of assistance getting from resting spot to resting spot. Not sure how many more weeks he has left, but we’re trying to give him as many quality experiences as he wants. #boxerdog

I brought Eloise around to the porch in Alvadore so the property owner could pet her. I’ve been grazing there for some years & she’s become a friend. Sadly she was diagnosed w/ pancreatic cancer last fall. Though caught early, treatment has been hard. I thought some lamb therapy might be in order.

Lemon balm grows naturally on our property. I have about 1.5 acres of it without any effort! Each day I harvest some for the animals, especially the poultry and bunnies. They love it! #lemonbalm

Laurie and Lettie (mom/daughter) are inseparable. I find that goats form very close relationships. Not that sheep don’t love their offspring but goats are next level. I think Lettie would die of a broken heart if she were ever separated from her mom. #angoragoats

It’s with pride & love that my beautiful Hazel tied for Reserve Champion in the best overall white fleece, after taking 1st in her category yesterday at Black Sheep Gathering. That’s an amazing honor. Hazel beat out many finer wools like Rambouillet, merino, etc. 1/2

Hermione and her mom Fat Hazel got their summer dos this afternoon in my Alvadore group. Hazel is still fat (hence the name). The last pic was of Hermy when she was a little lamb with Hazel. Also taken in Alvadore. These girls simply glow with golden luster after I get the wool off.
