What broke me and got me doing TikTok videos was every bloody piece I wrote was being read out by some fuckwit with a handheld mic who would get five million views and a million comments going 'wow so good to have proper journalism'... which was fine.... but the creator would reply 'THANKS ❤️'

Watching most of it. GB men probably out with 1 more loss unless their 1 win is against USA and there's some sort of log jam for 4th place on 5-4 which includes GB, USA and Germany? Is that how you read it? 2 wins and they should be fine.

The elimination of USAID is a moral atrocity and all involved made a choice to enable, and then lie about, ending the lives of some of the most vulnerable people in the world.
MAE SOT, Thailand (AP) - Mohammed Taher clutched the lifeless body of his 2-year-old son and wept. Ever since his family's food rations stopped arriving at their internment camp in Myanmar in April, the father had watched helplessly as his once-vibrant baby boy weakened, suffering from diarrhea and begging for food.
On May 21, exactly two weeks after Taher's little boy died, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio sat before Congress and declared: "No one has died" because of his government's decision to gut its foreign aid program. Rubio also insisted: "No children are dying on my watch."
That, Taher says, "is a lie."

The lesson here: if you believe a policy will deliver big and meaningful benefits then just ignore the polling and do it. Voters often don’t know what they want until they have it.

I'll subscribe if you start calling them 'grand slams' and not 'majors'... In all seriousness, you're a superb tennis writer even if I don't always 100% agree with all your takes. Your stuff on Zverev was proper brave and superb journalism.

To me and my very British upbringing I'm just annoyed at him using 'sports' rather than 'sport' in his tweet.

There's a small contingent of people online who get angry when you say this but: Wikipedia is unquestionably the most successful utopian project of the internet age, and its destruction would be a crime against humanity

So for example West Ham v Aston Villa was therefore moved as Villa had 3 players that would have been playing for their national teams on the orginal date (Milosovic + Curcic for Yugoslavia and Nelson for Portugal). I assume one of the clubs involved in the 3rd, 4th, 17th and 18th games at the same.

So after way too much goggling before sleep tonight I finally found the answer. These were the days before uniform international breaks and randomly 4 World Cup Qualifying games were played on Saturday 14th December. Belgium v Netherlands Portugal v Germany Spain v Yugoslavia Cyprus v Bulgaria..
